Introduction

An introductionary tasting of mainly Oregon Pinot Noir's from my cellar to our tasting group

Flight 1 - Chardonnay starter (1 Note)

2021 Kelley Fox Wines Chardonnay Lark Block Durant Vineyard 92 Points

USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Unchanged note - Young but it is very good already with notes of citrus, apple and white flowers. Pale colour. In balance with nerve. Super value.

Flight 2 - 2015 and 2016 Oregon Pinot Noir's (6 Notes)

2015 Lingua Franca Pinot Noir Mimi's Mind 90 Points

USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills

Dark-fruited with some warm, sweet and plum flavours. Well-made but not particularly elegant in my view, while some would rate this style higher.

2015 Bergström Pinot Noir Bergström Vineyard 91 Points

Dark colour. Large-scaled, powerful and dark-fruited style. For me it lacks the Pinot elegancy but thats my preference and I can easily see why many would rate it higher.

2016 Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard 94 Points

Really nice with pure red fruit with some subtle earthy, floral and spicy notes. Delicate and Burgundian elegance with great tension. In a good spot now with more to come.

Very nice delicious fuller PN style with a fine balance and mineral backbone. Well-crafted and approachable now although it will probatly improve with more age.

2016 The Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Noir The Eyrie 94 Points

Fantastic perfumed Pinot nose. This wine still feels young with mainly primary pure red fruit and some spicy aromas. Great balance and tension. Great upside with age.

Flight 3 - A wine with more age (1 Note)

2011 Kelley Fox Wines Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard 94 Points

USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Under screw-cap and not much to add to my 2022-note on this wine: Light red colour. Deep fragrant and delicate pinot nose. Mainly red-fruited with some strawberries, cherries and also some subtle spice. Long, with superb balance and just so elegant. In a great place now showing what you gain from cellaring some of the top Oregon wines.
