'20 base. D/g June '22 with 2 g/l dosage. Aromas of strawberry, lemon, orchard fruits with a touch of smokiness. Crisp acid, and bright but sweet tinged fruit. Feels balanced with lovely poise. Really solid.
2012 base, disgorged December 2016. Golden coloured. Honey, pineapple and herbs with a smoky and ginger aroma. Rich, flavorful, and plenty of body and texture. Full on the palate with really good acidity to balance.
Blind. Tropical and lanolin and lime notes with lemon pith. Subtle smokiness. Some alcohol on the front palate but the waxy, sweet fruit is nice. Good value!
Blind. Apricot, lemon, orange and smoke. Good acidity maintains the brightness of the palate and goes well with quite concentrated fruit density. Good length as well.
Red-edged with savory, meaty notes, bramble and hints of leather. Medium-bodied, holding up with decent acidity and just enough fruit. This bottle felt on the downhill slope but still okay for now.
Blind. Really lifted and bright, showing meatiness and plum and lots of peppery aromatics. Palate has a similar bright tone to it with the pepperiness at the fore. Felt very Gonon like, and was very Gonon.
Blind. Bacon fat and some cocoa notes, with blackberry as well. All the classic Rhone components are there with savory, spice, and earthy tones along with some plush fruit. Good structure and balance, this is a cracker.
Floral and spicy with red cherry, roses, and five spice. Fresh palate with good lift and acidity. Savoury edged with lovely cut. Got better and lifted with time in the glass. Super glass of wine.
Blind. Punchy nose with redcurrant, raspberry, blackberry and cherry. More tight and coiled on the palate, the punchy fruit is still there but it has a fresh edge and the tannins wrap it all up. Clear class and quality but the more time you can give it the better it'll be.
Blind. Ash, pepper and redcurrant with some stemmy/stalky notes as well. Dusty red fruits on the palate, medium bodied with the stalks in the background. Medium length. Interesting but didn't knock my socks off tonight.
Half bottle. Pineapple and peach with some lemon and lime as well. A lovely honeyed palate with youthful acidity and energy. It's in a great spot for drinking now but will live on for another 10+ you'd bet.
Peachy, apple, pear, and smoke on the nose. The palate is amplified power, with superb acidity that gives the wine a joyous exuberance. Detailed and extremely delicious.
Half bottle. Golden colored with smoke, honey, apricot, and pear notes. Ripe and rich on the palate, this has full length and is drinking really well now.
