Aromas of pear, honey, graphite and yellow flowers with a hint of lemon. The palate is rich yet focused, balanced by a great line of acid. Toasty on the palate as well with a tinge of ginger.
Lemon and honey with lime, graphite and apricot accents. A bit more open and expressive next to the 2020 Doosberg, with a rich palate and plenty of fruit depth. Very good length and line, this is already drinking well but would likely drink well for the next 10 years as well.
Lemon and pear with white floral notes. No rough edges to the palate, drinks deliciously with delicate sweetness and well defined acid structure. Super across the board.
Italy, Trentino Alto-Adige / Veneto, Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT
Saline, orange peel and white floral notes on the nose. Quite crunchy acid on the palate with good carry and energy. Interesting without being too out there.
Spice and lemon, with well-integrated oak on the nose. Nice richness with good fruit intensity and good length. All around solid wine, well made and executed.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
Sea spray, honeyed, some ginger and earthy spice - definitely entering developed territory. Punchy and intense, honeyed fruit across the palate and still holding together structure wise. Drink now based on this bottle.
Savoury nose with smoky, earthy, and spice notes. Palate is fairly dense still with structure and fruit that is a touch blocky. Has good length and may still come around.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru
Graphite and slate with some smoke and red cherries. Good structure here still with fine tannins that do find balance as the fruit has a youthful sweet edge. Time will be key still.
Blind. Cherry and kirsch, roses, graphite and violets with a mineral tone to it. A sense of lightness on the palate, it's delicate and refined, continuing to lift in the glass despite having a 5+ hour decant already. Not the most heralded vintage but a very fine bottle of wine.
Blind. Smoke, redcurrant and spice on the nose. Palate has some definition to it, the acid does well to push back on the sweeter red and black fruit. Goof mix to the components here.
Blind. Smoky with graphite, redcurrant and blackberry. Smoky palate with a good acid line holding it all together. Has interest and still feels fresh. Very surprising to see what it was as nobody called it that old. Good to try!
Chocolate, and blackberry with rose and violet notes. Tightly wound with plenty of power and classic structure. Needs another 10 years to be likely to strut its stuff I think.
