2002 Pol Roger Champagne Vintage Brut

Brioche, slight honey, almost a little apricot and orange, slight lemon, tangerine. Medium plus intensity acidity, green apple on the palate, slightly creamy notes, softly textured, with time a little lemon softy mousse has a crisp grip. Rather nice.

Peach, slight bees wax, honey, red apple, tangy texture, a little apple skin bitterness, long, gains complexity with time; stone fruits, glycerol fatness, a little residual sugar. Lovely.

Medium minus intensity aromas of a little savoury struck match, touch of citrus. Juicy, tangy a little mid palate texture. Feels slightly lost next to the Dönnhoff in this line up. With time it opens to show more yellow citrus.

black fruits especially blackberry. Juicy, fleshy, crisp mousse off dry, blackberry, plum, sweet spice plenty of textured burr, tiny touch of rancio and a little red fruit underpin. Very nice.

Medium minus intensity aromas of plums, sweet spice, slight herbaceous underpin, a little vanilla. With agitation it opens up a little more. Juicy, fleshy, plums, vanilla, sweet spice, slightly woody texture provides the back palate. Should probably have given this a decant for an hour or so. Last glass is the best (& very good). Damn

Plums, leather, earth, slight whole bunch, slightly baked notes. Juicy, fleshy, plums, acid has a little sour underpin pushing some red plums, silky tannins have a tacky quality.
10-15 year old Victorian Pinot made with a little too much extraction

A little cellar stink blew off, earth, leather, black tea, blackcurrant, plum, sweet spice, cedar, forest floor, slight alcohol warmth. Medium plus intensity acidity, plentiful drying tannins persist super long, blackcurrant, leather, earth, forest floor, a little bit ripe for me. Hmm
I went with left bank Bordeaux, 1996, St Julien or Pauillac

1994 Stanton & Killeen Vintage Port

Alcohol prickle, touch of rancio, wet cellar, fig, plums, slightly meaty, cream, slight vanilla and milk chocolate. Juicy plus, sweet spice, still very fresh on the palate but with tertiary notes as well. Quite pleasant.
