UK and Paris
Tasted Saturday, August 16, 2008 - Saturday, August 29, 2009 by Wrighty with 713 views
Summer holiday trip which included the CT tasting event, a trip to Paris and several bottles back in the UK
Arrived with a slight cold and got stuck into these. It was a great event and weekend of wine, perfect to fix any jetlag
The double blind degustation menu; the food and wine was blind.
1st course - Gazpacho
I guessed the grape but not the location, thought it too soft for NZ - good match
2nd course - Cod with risotto and mussels
Guess bordeaux so sort of got the grape again. This was the best course by far but would have been better matched with a wine with a little more age
3rd course - Young lamb cutlets and routalde, green mousse and summer veg
A good match and the best wine of the quartet.
4th course - Tiramisu
Not a big tiramisu fan but this was great. Wine a little off beat and not my 'cup of tea' although wife loved it!
Basic french bistro confit of duck.
Wine was good but good too salty really.
1st Course - heritage tomatoes
2nd Course - Lamb shoulder
No outstanding wines this time although lots of good food! Time to get back into the gym

Funky nose which blows off after 2 hours to revela some cherry and mushroom. Some soft tannic struture.
Day 2
Had been vacuumed sealed overnight. Hints of white pepper. Was much softer but still had life.

This wasn't sealed overnight and was flater. There were more smokey notes on day 2.
