  • 2022 Karanika Cuvée Rosé 91 Points

    Greece, Macedonia, Amyndaio

A blend of Xinomavro and Limniona, 11,5% ABV, disgorged March 2024, dosage 3-6 gr/l. Steely acidity, mildly yeasty, citrus, spiced strawberry, dry and energetic but with a lovely succulence from the peachy fruit.

  • 2020 Julien Renard Riesling trocken Göttchesberg 94 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

As brilliant as the last time. I love all Julien Renard’s wines, but Gött’che is his chef d’oeuvre. So pure and precise, intensity without weight, all flowers and smoke, steely but playful acidity, unmistakable Riesling character but with Jura-like notes of lemon juice and a whiff of yeastiness, energetic bitters, flowing finish with excellent length.

  • NV Mukai Shuzo 'Ine Mankai' Junmai Genshu 93 Points

    Japan, Kansai, Kyoto

Made from red rice, 1800ml bottle, 14% ABV, bottled July 2024. Smoky and deep, gently sweet, koji and red fruit, spicy strawberries, roses and nuts, enveloping richness, not as oxidative as I remember from the last time I tasted this. Impressive.

  • 2020 Domaine des Tours Vaucluse 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Vaucluse

Decadent but fresh, extremely aromatic, honey and spiced strawberries, dried mushrooms, warm glowing bricks, silky and sweet, juicy and supple, full-bodied (14.5% ABV) but light on its feet, seamless acidity, papery tannins, excellent resonance and length without back-end heat (if enjoyed at the right temperature). Will age effortlessly.
