Started out holding back and a bit muted with some minor oxidative notes. With are the oxidative notes blew off and the wine developed nicely. It however never fully opened up, even after hours in the glass. I somehow never really got this.
This was an absolute beauty and clearly the wine of the night for everyone. Fallen leaves, Orange peel, nice sweetness, elegant but still dense and incredibly long. This held its own even after going back from younger wines. A stunner!
A truly stunning example of Yquem. An underrated vintage, this had all the hallmark of mature Sauternes. Creme brulee, candied sugar, candied orange peel, fantastic
