  • 2021 Viña Aquitania Chardonnay Sol de Sol

    Chile, Malleco Valley

    Hay, overripe, biscuit, warm bread notes at first, high intensity, bittery, overripe tropical notes, honey, mango jam.
    Palate with med body, same character as the nose, overripe, lacks acidity, a touch warm (13%), rather short finish.
    Called this US Chardonnay

  • 2020 Klein Constantia Chardonnay

    South Africa, Coastal Region, Cape Peninsula, Constantia

    Lean, spicy, flint, green fruit at first. Oak oriented, citrus, lean again, "cold fruit", a touch planky, spicy bacon
    Palate is the same, green fruit, med body, spicy, med to high acidity, persistent finish, angry texture, feels quite youthful.
    Called this French Chardonnay

  • 2021 Cambria Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard

    USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley

    Fresh, youthful, green, grassy, some oak at first.
    Ripe fruit, some fresh grassy notes, ripe mango/apricot, oak frame decorated with dried banana bits.
    Palate shows med body, green bitter notes, green apple, warmth, a bit angry texture, med finish.
    Damn, called this Chile

  • 2022 Shaw and Smith Chardonnay M3 Vineyard

    Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills

    Lean, flinty, citrus, oak at first, very light color, almost transparent.
    Again lean but also a bit different, some hay/dry grass notes, green fruit, bacon/savoury spicy notes.
    Palate shows med body, med to high acidity, youthful, very fresh, long finish.
    Called Australia on this one.

  • 2022 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis Grand Cru Valmur

    France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

    Lean, austere, flint, some green notes.
    Palate is ripe, sweet notes, ripe stone fruit, oaky frame, warm, med to high acidity, med to long finish.
    With time, the wine explodes in the glass, iodine, full oaky, palate with ripe fruit, med body, high acidity, mineral, long finish

  • 2022 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis

    France, Burgundy, Chablis

    Oak, ripe fruit, buttery, tropical fruit at first. Less profound, again green notes.
    Palate with med body, tense, austere, aggressive, warmth, long finish.
    With time, you get a certain green sweet/ripe fruit note.

    Green, fresh, ripe at first. Less intense than Valmur, round stone fruit, a few sweet spice notes, some green fruit notes.
    Palate shows ripe fruit, very warm, high acidity, bitter, med finish

    Covers the tongue and goes forward while Cote Rotie quator feels like covering half of the breadth of the tongue. An interesting discovery for spotting them blind
