Some pleasant wines but only if the price was about half what it is over here...death and taxes...<sigh>
2021 Pike Road Wines Chardonnay
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
Stone fruit, touch of sweet spice, smidge of butter, a little citric underpin. Juicy, slightly tough, simple, that butter teams up with some non delineated stone fruit.

2022 Peay Vineyards Chardonnay Estate
USA, California, Sonoma County, West Sonoma Coast
A little toasted oak, slight bacon fat, butter, slightly nutty notes over grapefruit, slight stone fruit. Juicy, bacon with a squeeze of lemon, silky texture, slight non intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish. Okay.

2022 Cristom Chardonnay
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
Sulphur/struck match, toasted oak, a little butter, muted citrus in support, touch of peach. It's a little tart on the palate, woody texture, tiny green almost lime and lime leaf note. Long. Not for me.

2022 Hobo Wine Company Chenin Blanc Folk Machine
USA, California, Central Valley, Clarksburg
Waxy, slight polish, lemon, fresh wet grass. Sharp, tart and bitter, plenty of hoppy texture; tastes like a sour beer.

2022 Pike Road Wines Pinot Noir

Slightly ashy whole bunch, a little red berry fruit, the whole bunch lends a little savoury spice, earthy underpin. Nice nose. Juicy, slightly bitter on the palate, plenty of talc textured tannins, fruit a little subdued. Hmm.

2022 Peay Vineyards Pinot Noir West Sonoma Coast
USA, California, Sonoma County, West Sonoma Coast
Sweet and sour nose, cranberry jam if you will, something like wet mud behind this. With time a slightly jubey fruit lozenge note. More of the same on the palate but it's also quite bitter and four square on the finish. Out of whack. Nah.

2022 Cristom Pinot Noir Mt. Jefferson Cuvée
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
Medium minus intensity aromas, a little meaty, earthy undergrowth note accompanies slightly fresh brambly fruit, touch of sweet spice, plenty of drying grip though quite silky textured, wild brambly fruit is a little dilute. Slightly smoky notes on the finish. Okay

2022 Peay Vineyards Pinot Noir Pomarium Estate
USA, California, Sonoma County, West Sonoma Coast
Very slight wood glue, jubey red fruits shows strawberry, raspberry; more compote than jam, touches of blue berry. Touch of stalks here as well as a little blood note. In the mouth it's densely concentrated, focussed, fruit a little non delineated, more blue than red fruit on the palate, silky tannins, long, fresh. Nice.

2022 Cristom Pinot Noir Louise Vineyard
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
Savoury, earthy, brambly fruit, touch of meaty spice, very slight alcohol prickle, dialled back oak. Juicy, woody tannins are quite stave licky, fruit shows black cherry compote. Simple. Hmm.

2021 Hobo Wine Company Zinfandel
USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley
Fresh plum, touch of sweet spice, clean. Fresh plums on the palate with a little sour underpin but not off-putting, touch of fruit tea to the tannic rasp. Simple. Nice.
