pale lemon-green. very expressive in the nose and palate with lemon-lime, white plum and gentle floral accents. off-dry with high offsetting acidity and medium body. subtle honey and hay notes mark development. some orange peel in the long finish.
"Feinherb" style Riesling that while delicious now, can drink (and improve) for a decade easily.
very pale ruby. fresh, fragrant and floral nose with violet- and rose-infused fresh red berries on an earthy, sappy base. bright acidity is the hallmark of the quasi-medium bodied mouthfeel; the fruit flavours are expressive and have a distinct delineation, aided by very fine tannins and somewhat savoury accents. finishes long.
not a typical Pinot, but a lovely one. just about drinkable now and with good ageing potential.
12.9% AbV; 5% whole bunch inclusion; matured for eleven months in French oak (30% new)
medium ruby. moderately expressive aromas and flavours of raspberry, cranberry, cherry and red plum with clove and subtle toast. medium-bodied and somewhat more expressive in mouth with fresh acidity and fine, barely-there tannins. developing earthy and mushroom notes add lovely complexity. very good length.
drinks well already and has good ageing potential.
14% AbV; 25% whole bunch inclusion; matured for eleven months in French oak (30% new)
medium ruby. expressive blueberry with red and black cherry and plum and herb and mushroom accents. fruit-forward in mouth with not-quite matching acidity and soft tannins, but enough accents of spice and peppery to keep the flavours interesting. good length.
likely needs a bit more time to come together.
14% AbV; 32% whole bunch inclusion; eleven months' ageing in French oak (29% new).
New Zealand, South Island, Otago, Central Otago Bendigo
medium ruby-garnet and showing similarly as seven months ago… in this particular lineup the blueberry and black fruit showed more prominently (along with the red fruit).
and while this is not generally my preferred bottling on any given vintage, this particular one shows well and will likely develop much to my liking in a handful of years.
14% AbV; 35% whole bunch inclusion; eleven and a half months' ageing in French oak (27% new)
