Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • NV Laurent-Perrier Champagne Cuvée Rosé Brut 92 Points

    France, Champagne

Interesting that this showed better than 3 other bottles I've had in the past. Fairly significant creamy strawberry that asserts the rose moniker. Orange, red apple and baking spices. The dosage seems higher.

  • NV Lanson Champagne Le Rosé Brut 89 Points

    France, Champagne

This was from a magnum and it didn't show as well as expected. Rather dull for champagne in gteneral and I wouldn't have guessed it as rose, but it still gets an 89 on quality.

Flight 3 (3 Notes)

  • 2007 Domaine Serene Pinot Noir Mark Bradford 93 Points

USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

2007 Oregon is a dicey proposition for me but this was showing well. Very ripe and fruity while also having earth and depth.

  • 2016 Jean Foillard Morgon Cuvée 3.14

    France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon

This is clearly a well-done cru Beaujolais. I struggled with it because it was sandwiched between a 2007 Domaine Serene Mark Bradford pinot and a 2015 Domaine des Roches Neuves "Clos de L'Échelier". I felt this wine was significantly drier and it was difficult for me to make that transition.

  • 2015 Domaine des Roches Neuves Saumur-Champigny Clos de L'Echelier 93 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur-Champigny

To me this drinks with complexity that I wouldn't expect from such a young wine. The profile is similar to good Saumur's I've had in the past. Savory, floral, roasted vegetables, cherry, pepper, minerals.

Flight 4 (2 Notes)

  • 2014 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 93 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Bolgheri, Bolgheri Sassicaia

7 hour decant, poured back in bottle and brought to a tasting. This remains a light-bodied wine with great lift and nuance.

  • 1985 Château Palmer 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

ROCKNROLLER's bottle. Fabulous, textbook well-aged Margaux from a great producer. Funk, gravel, mushrooms, truffle, meat, violets, cedar.

Flight 5 (1 Note)

  • 1978 Kopke Porto Colheita 93 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

I don't know if this was decanted but it absolutely tasted like it was ready to go. I noticed the similarity to an aged Tawny due to the Colheita method. Oxidative notes, plum, fig, dried fruits and spice. The palate seems rich and not cloying or sappy. I am not a port fan so factor that into my score, I really appreciated this one for its expressive nature.
