This is starting to show some maturity and development, though with primary qualities to the tones. The Full bodied feel is deft and textured with mouthwatering, medium+ acidity. This is gorgeous, but with it leaning into a more mature version of itself.
It is always difficult to know what you’re getting with any European 2003. Thankfully, this is wonderful and showing a real richness to the tones of almond paste, red apples, nougat, Meyer lemons, Bosc pears, creams, honey notes, and yellow flowers. There is excellent depth as they show off a mature sense, but without being overdone or I. Danger of falling apart. The Full bodied feel is rich and balanced with integrated, medium acidity. This is drinking perfectly right now and is a real joy to drink. This shows off great texture and balance that comes with age.

There is so much going on with the nose that you just want to keep smelling and let it do its thing. The Full bodied feel is textured and deep with integrated, medium acidity and a lengthy finish. This is just gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.
This is really open for such a young Chave. There is a real expressive side with classic tones of black cherries, raspberries, meaty notes, black pepper, crushed rocks, embers, and violet notes. There is excellent depth and refinement with a more elegant sense right now. The Full bodied feel is elegant and deep with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. This is so good right now. It doesn’t feel like a heavyweight Chave and could well be more for the mid-term, but it is a worthy and gorgeous Chave.
Well………..while having 3 dead/flawed wines in a row was disappointing, this was what I was looking forward to the most. And this completely delivered! It is just so deep, sumptuous, and perfumed as it fills the glass with flowing tones of Black cherries, black raspberries, sour red fruits, roasted herbs, earth notes, leather, olive tapenade, licorice, and violets. The nose is beautifully melded in complete harmony with loads of layering to the tones. The Full bodied feel is so robust, yet refined and elegant with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. The structure is fairly integrated, but it still exists to let you know it’s still there. This was all that I could’ve hoped for. Obviously I would love to sit with an entire bottle, but that isn’t happening. This was just amazing and one of the best Syrahs I’ve ever had.

The nose is lacking a slight bit of depth and is starting to fade ever so slightly. The Medium/full bodied feel is balanced, but slightly lacking with tart, medium+ acidity that is a little bitter and resolved, medium tannins. This wasn’t helped by following the 95 Cathelin. At the same time, it was never meant to be an amazing Chave and feels like it’s on the downslope right now.
The nose is deep, layered, and flowing with gorgeous tones of dark red cherries, black raspberries, cranberries, herbs, leather, black pepper, savory notes, licorice, and just a beautiful hint of violets to round it out. There is so much balance and perfume to the nose that it’s just mesmerizing. The Full bodied feel is deft, refined, and deep with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. The structure is there for show at this point and the feel is pure silk and elegance. This is firing on all cylinders and is such a joy to drink.
Where the 89 was flowing, this was pure Alice in Wonderland to the perfumed quality of the wine. There is a lot of depth and headiness to the tones of crushed rocks, black cherries, black raspberries, some savory notes, potpourri, olive tapenade, wild flowers, herbs, and some earth notes. This is so heady, but with some stature to it. The Full bodied feel is elegant and regal with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. This is pure velvet on the feel. The regal quality plays so well into the perfumed nature of the nose and it creates such a complete version of this. This bottle was firing on every cylinder possible.

The Full bodied feel is deep and textured with integrated, medium acidity. This was the perfect way to end the tasting! It’s so rare to come across this and have it live up to expectation.
