Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2023 Tenuta di Carleone Rosato 87 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

The nose is fresh and lively with tones of strawberries, fresh picked berries, citrus notes, roses, mineral notes, and a touch of red fruits. There is some nice lift to the tones, but it does lack some depth. The Medium bodied feel is fresh and lively with racy, high acidity. This is a fun and fresh rose that delivers some lovely red fruits and citrus notes.

  • 2022 Tenuta di Carleone Il Randagio 90 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

The nose is aromatic and savory with balanced tones of dark red cherries, cranberries, a touch of herbal notes, violets, crushed rocks, leather, and lavender notes. The Medium/full bodied feel shows off the balance of the nose with a youthful vibrancy to it along with crisp, medium+ acidity and chunky, medium tannins. The structure has some youth, but it isn’t overpowering. I can certainly see a few years of aging helping this out as it has a few rough edges and the ability to kick into another gear.

  • 2021 Tenuta di Carleone Chianti Classico 91 Points

Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG

While this is extremely Chianti on the nose, this isn’t your grandfather or dad’s Chianti. It is pure Sangiovese that leans into the new modern with a perfumed and elegant take to the nose of red cherries, raspberries, savory notes, fresh herbs, spice notes, crushed rocks, licorice, and wild flowers. There is a lighter sense of being that is inviting, but even with the complexity it feels like it is holding back a bit. The Medium bodied feel is deft and silky with crisp, medium+ acidity and taught, medium+ tannins that certainly have some grip. This is really sexy now, but it has a lot more to give with another 4+ years of aging.

  • 2022 Tenuta di Carleone Il Guercio 92 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

The nose is perfumed and sexy as it fills the glass with deftly balanced tones of morning dew, crushed rocks, red cherries, strawberries, fresh picked red berries, wet clay notes, rose petals, savory herbs, and some earth tones. This feels like it’s holding back a bit due to its youth, but it is also extremely expressive and a wine you want your nose in. The Medium/full bodied feel is silky and elegant with crisp, medium+ acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. I feel like this could really improve with some aging. There is a lot of expression right now, but it isn’t fully singing just yet.

  • 2021 Tenuta di Carleone Uno 93 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

The nose is deep, elegant, and perfumed with a sumptuous way about the tones of red cherries, strawberries, freshly picked red berries, crunchy red fruits, crushed rocks, a touch of bitter chocolate, spice notes, tobacco leaf, violets, rose petals, and all sorts of wild flowers. Even with the complexity and perfume, it does feel like it is holding back just a bit. The Medium/full bodied feel is so refined, elegant, and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. This is so good right now, but it has so much more to give. The structure is youthful but not too overpowering. There is so much to love about this bottling and where it can go with age.
