Attended a Realm Cellars Spring Release dinner at The Chastain, featuring a vertical tasting of Farella Vineyard and Beckstoffer wines alongside a five-course meal. Scott Becker hosted the intimate dinner in the private dining room, sharing stories of Realm's journey and relationships with vineyard owners Andy Beckstoffer and Frank Farella.
Served with Vonnie's Sprouts Salad featuring parmesan, sunflower sprouts, pea shoots, lemon, green garlic aioli, and buttermilk ricotta. Wine was served too warm IMO and was not as good as the 2023 vintage, though others at the table, including my wife, preferred this vintage over the 2023 (which we've had recently prior to this dinner).

Served side-by-side with the 2014 Farella and paired with sweet potato agnolotti with black trumpet mushrooms, sage brown butter, braised kale, and roasted walnuts (this was the best dish of the meal IMO). A Napa fruit bomb at this stage, showed well with the pasta. I started drinking this after 20 minutes in glass. Everyone at our table (except me) preferred the '22 to '14.

Served side-by-side with the 2022 Farella; reminiscent of aged Bordeaux after 20 minutes in glass. I scored it 94 points on its own but 90 with the pasta; despite the vintage differences, both wines displayed a similar sense of place. Everyone at our table (except me) preferred the '22 to '14.

Served side-by-side with 2022 Beckstoffer Dr. Crane and paired with the shortrib course with grilled maitake mushroom, black garlic farro, cipollini onion, mushroom hoisin, grilled broccoli, and toasted peanuts (the shortrib was amazing!). The wine was super fruity and paired beautifully with the shortrib.

Served side-by-side with the 2022 Beckstoffer To Kalon, this was showing more tannic structure than its companion. Paired with the excellent shortrib course; I simply wrote down "Eh" in my notes.

From Mag. Served side-by-side with 2014 Beckstoffer Dr. Crane and paired with a cheese course of Tomme, Parmigiano Reggiano, Fromage, pickled tart cherries, olive oil toasted baguette, pistachio, and beet cherry. Fully resolved tannins with balanced red fruit. Wow!

From Mag. Served side-by-side with 2014 Beckstoffer To Kalon, showing even better than its impressive companion. Displayed incredible balance with juicy, full-bodied character and a pleasant bite, still showing great potential with 10+ years of drinking ahead. Clear WOTN!

Light and elegant, served as a welcome wine in the courtyard. Perfect aperitif before the meal.
