Right from first pour, this is classic Jacquesson as there are distinct notes of brioche and toast that strike right away. As the toasty notes pull back, there are fresh and flowing tones of red apples, pears, a touch of roasted nuts, brioche, yellow flowers, vanilla extract, Meyer lemons, warm dough, and some nougat. The Medium bodied feel is complete and balanced with tart, high acidity that has some lovely cut. This is beautifully balanced right now and is showing quite well. This may not necessarily be a long haul Jacquesson, but it certainly delivers for the immediate and mid-term.
The nose is aromatic and fresh with fresh shaved ginger, apples, pears, Meyer lemons, quince, peaches, limes, white fruits, acacia flowers, nectarines, biscuits, toast, pumpernickel bread. The feel is Medium bodied feel is balanced and textured with tart, high acidity that persists and makes your mouth water. This is young and lovely with excellent freshness across the nose and palate.
The nose is a bit on the tight side, but showing excellent depth and understated power to the tones of black cherries, crushed rocks, raspberries, black pepper, violets, flint, tobacco notes, and violets. There is good depth, though this is wound slightly up. The Full bodied feel is robust and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. This still needs some time to sort itself out. There is good promise, but I can see this kicking it up a level or so with 4+ more years of age.
The last time I had this, I was unfortunate in having a corked bottle. Thankfully that’s not close to the case here as it really opens up with about an hour of air into deep and savory tones of black cherries, licorice, black raspberries, dark red fruits, violets, crushed rocks, tobacco leaf, leather, and pepper notes. The nose really opens up in the glass and shows a lot of expression along with some restrained brawn. The Full bodied feel is deftly balanced, yet robust and deep with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins that still show off some grip. This is a much happier bottle than my last one. This is starting to rev up and is showing off the class that I expect and want from a bottle of Allemand.

It started to show itself after being open for a bit with raw, yet balanced times of black cherries, black raspberries, licorice, cranberries, iodine, leather, violets, earth notes, a touch of meaty tones, and minerals. There is a bit of extra lift to the fruit, likely from the vintage. The Full bodied feel shows off the power of the nose with crisp, medium+ acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins that pack a punch. This will be a much better wine down the line, but the raw materials are unquestionably there right now.
This is showing fairly similar to how it was 4 years ago when I last had it. In other words, it’s sexy. This is some old-school Cote-Rotie taking advantage of the warmer vintage with raspberries, black cherries, olive tapenade, black and white pepper, licorice, crushed berries, violets, herbs, and some earth notes. There is excellent depth with a savory refinement that is a lot of fun to smell. The Medium bodied feel is deft and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins that still have some presence. At 15 years, this is sailing along. This will have a long life ahead as it’s just hitting its stride and still has a fair bit of primary qualities to the tones.
Where the 09 showed more fruit, this leans into the savory. It is perfumed and classic with layered tones of black cherries, bacon fat, raspberries, earth notes, tobacco leaf, leather, black olives, and violets. This is fairly open-knit and balanced, but just lacking a smidge of depth. The Medium bodied feel is refined in a savory way with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins. This is drinking beautifully, but it is just lacking a tad bit of depth that would really kick it up a notch. It’s hard to see it truly improving from here, but it’s not in any danger of falling off any time soon.
