Flight 1 (7 Notes)

  • 2021 Nashdale Lane Riesling

Australia, New South Wales, Central Ranges, Orange

My pale gold colour intensity 2.5 out of 10.
On the nose it is a little bit of diesel, beeswax, nectarine.
On the Palate The acidity is quite high, its dry, limes, and beeswax. The body is light and finish medium leaning towards long due to that acidity.
Found the nose to be more interesting and complex than palate. Recommend to consume with food.

  • 2021 Byron & Harold Riesling Chapter and Verse

Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Great Southern

Murky red purple orange brown dishwater.
On the nose it smells of blood oranges, liquorice, strawberry.
On the palate there is a little tannin and spice, a low amount of alcohol warmth that balances well, blood oranges marmalade, citrus rind, almost an under seasoned mulled wine character.
An interesting pet nat, not necessarily for me but it was well received.

  • NV Punt Road Airlie Bank

Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Yarra Valley

Pale light yellow, 3/10, almost no bubbles.
On the nose there is pineapple, pear, apple.
On the palate the mousse is soft medium, I would guess a low pressure example. There is a little tannin. Acid is quite high, a little too high for me. A bit bitter, citrus rind, and a small amount of pear and pineapple comes through.
Not for me but partner said easy to drink.

  • NV Howard Park Petit Jeté Brut

Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Great Southern

Light golden 2/10. Medium low amount of fine medium bubbles.
On the nose there is a little skunk, powdery, lemon, quite muted actually.
On the palate the mousse is medium high, quite a lot of acidity, lemon and cream, slightly bitter, slightly drying. Quite fresh and bright. Not my first pick but it's not bad, enjoyable, suspect better with food due to acidity.

  • NV Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut

    France, Champagne

First wine of the new year.
Pale light gold, a lot of fine bubbles.
Lemon, sherbet, some lees characters, it actually smells very slightly oxidized.
On the palate it has a small medium mousse, quite high acidity, limes, bread, grapefruit. Quite dry. I liked.

  • 2018 Jansz Wine Company Vintage Cuvée

    Australia, Tasmania

Light and pale golden, plenty of fine bubbles.
The nose is filled with bready lees character, chalk dust, cream, brioche.
The palate has a medium mousse, medium to high acidity, beautiful bread, cream, and lemon pith, orange zest.
    This was nice.

  • 2018 Byron & Harold Riesling Autumn Gold - Late Harvest

Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Great Southern

    Tasted blind.
Extremely light in color 1/10 , tinged gold.
On the nose there is diesel, green peppercorn, alcohol.
The body is medium heavy, somewhat viscous. Diesel, slightly plastic taste, faint tropical fruit and apricot.
I would guess this is an off dry Riesling.
