Introduction

This was another in the lineup of appointments I was looking forward to since it was another wine that I purchased but hadn't yet tasted. We're grateful to Dustin and Renee for welcoming us into their home and spending time with us. Their passion for what they're doing is palpable.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • NV M. Brugnon Champagne Brut Sélection 93 Points

    France, Champagne

    Lovely bouquet of citrus, pear and melon with subtle rich, toasty notes underneath. Short bead which dissipated quickly, to the point I did not pick up the fact that this was a Champagne. ("this is unlike any sauv blanc I've ever had" which is becuase it wasn't) Toasted orchard fruit on the palate with hints of citrus and cashew. Excellent. 60% chardonnay and 40% pinot noir.

  • 2022 MOWE Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 96 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena

    If my memory is correct this was opened about three hours ahead of our visit. Lovely dark ruby red color with a very pretty floral aroma that gives way to red berry fruit, cassis and black cherry. Silky texture, with fine tannins and wonderful balance throughout. Bright red and black fruit, tobacco, black cherry and violet liqueur flavors. Hints of spice in the finish. Very elegant- very impressive.

  • 2022 MOWE Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 94 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, Coombsville

    Medium yellow color with notes of lime and grapefruit- terrific citrus- with only the slightest hint of grassiness underneath. A full-bodied sauv blanc with flavors of melon, gooseberry and lemon with a nice vein of acidity. I passed on this when the offer came out, and I'm regretting that decision. 19 months in barrel with regular bâtonnage.
