Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2016 Nyetimber Blanc de Blancs

United Kingdom, England, Sussex, West Sussex

    (2/21/2025)

Bought off the list. A friend had remarked how he thought it was just as good as the Tillington - which had compared favourably to the 13 DP a little while ago. Lovely energy and zip, some depth to it, a peach character. More than decent but doesn’t quite pass the Roederer Collection test for me.

  • 2013 Dom Pérignon Champagne

Bought BTG from an already open bottle. This is lovely - Mrs M was impressed. That lightness and elegance I remember from previous bottles, but a little more substance too. Fab.

  • 2004 Dom Pérignon Champagne P2

    France, Champagne

    (2/21/2025)

“We are planning to start selling this by the glass”. Ok. Just awesome - deeper colour than the 13 DP, on the palate real depth too, but line and zip. This isn’t shouting just comfortable in its skin - if it moved to your village it would have the PTA and the village fete running 10x better while not appearing to do any work and everyone would love it.

  • NV Laurent-Perrier Champagne Grand Siècle Iteration 26 Grande Cuvée

    France, Champagne

    (2/21/2025)

“Why would you order that when they have the P2?” Well…it’s 1/3 the price, and I haven’t tasted it yet. Real class, effortless and elevated. I know people complain this isn’t showy enough and I get it, but I thoroughly enjoyed this and it told a good story.

  • 2008 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut

    France, Champagne

    (2/22/2025)

Yellow / gold colour. Suuuuper engaging nose - something citrus, also a bit of richness. On the palate - still has that super engaging core, but there's more breadth to it, i'm sure this is a pup but so much going on already. Interestingly, K found this to be markedly inferior to either of the DPs, thinking it a little astringent. I was here for this wine, but totally get it.
