  • 2016 Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

    (2/23/2025)

This was disappointing given its pedigree. Not a bad wine but far from what is possible from this (large) vineyard. Initially very closed, only start showing on day 2. Also required a bit of temperature and then showed ripe lemon, candied lemon, minerality, oak, floral notes (ao honeysuckle). Medium+ acidity, medium+ finish. 91-92

  • 2014 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chateniere Blanc Vieilles Vignes 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

    (2/25/2025)

As so often with Lamy, even an 11 year old bottle feels young. Som much tension in this wine! Lemon, lime, grapefruit, toast, minerality, rock, dried green apple, nutmeg. High (searing) acidity, long finish. 92+

Very lean and clean with enough concentration to make it very appealing. No hurry with this

  • 2018 Domaine Belargus Anjou Treilles 95 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Anjou

    (2/25/2025)

One of my favorite domains and after visiting this vineyard 2 years ago I always have a soft spot for this vineyard. Reclaimed by the previous owner (Jo Pithon) who had seen pictures from early 20 century with a vineyard that had become a forest.

The wine is just intoxicating! So much concentration and such a complexity; Orange blossom, roses, white flowers, deadnettle (including the honeyed flowers), salinity, anise, minerality, stones, pastry, quince, hay, candied lemon. High acidity, never ending finish (minutes…)

On day 1 very floral, more pine driven on day 2. So much nuance for such a powerhouse
