A powerhouse but does not lack elegance, deep and spicy, minty, black fruit and violets on the nose, alcoholic weight (15.5% ABV) does not get in the way, richly textured tannins are finely ground but pleasantly sticky, nicely lifted finish with a lighter pitch (raspberry, rose), good resonance and length.
Bottled 2011. Seems more expressive and more precise than when tasted 12 years ago, nuts and oranges express the Petite Champagne terroir, good intensity, resonance and length.
