Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • NV Gaspard Brochet Champagne 333.d 93 Points

    France, Champagne

My contribution. First time trying this edition after hearing mixed reviews, but thankfully found it to be up to the usual high standard. Pale salmon hue appearance, finely balanced red and citrus fruit. So much nervosity in the style that I like, this was finished in almost no time.

  • 2014 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo 91 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

My contribution. Slightly browning appearance but palate was still fresh. Took some time for the nose to display lifted, floral fruit; palate had dark red fruit that was less concentrated than I expected. Pleasurable, but no point waiting on this for any longer.

  • 2022 Jean-Pierre Guyon Gevrey-Chambertin Les Platières 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin

Displayed the usual house style of sweet, candied red fruit. Some spice that could have passed this off as Vosne, but not quite as elegant as the Vosnes last week.

  • 2018 Caveau de Bacchus Trousseau Arbois Cuvée des Géologues Poussot 94 Points

    France, Jura, Arbois

My contribution, I knew this producer was good, but not this good. Guesses from the table were mostly in Rhone but I felt this was more Burgundian in nature. Loved the pure, crunchy red fruit that was saline and textural at the same time, there was an electricity to this that is much more common in whites or champagnes. Stunning bottle of Jura.
