  • 2007 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

    Pale greeny-gold, suggesting slight maturity. Evolving notes of wet stone, concrete, desiccated almond, and subtle orchard fruit are on the nose while the palate is mineral-driven, precise, and tight, delivering plenty of fresh apples, citrus zest, and greengage. A taut, steely acid underpins the wine as it reaches a long-ish finish. Glass evolved quickly, so it is at its prime and still elegant and enjoyable.
    Sourced from Les Preuses on Kimmeridgian limestone soils. Made using a combination of stainless steel and oak with extended time on lees.

  • 2014 A. et P. de Villaine Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Perrières Blanc 93 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

    Pale gold in colour; the fragrant aromas deliver peach blossom, white apple, and minerals. The entry is a lovely, refreshing acidity with steely precision. There is some flesh to the mid-palate to give some richness to its taut mineral profile as it glides towards a long, clean finish - very elegant!
    Sourced from Premier Cru vineyards in Saint-Aubin.

  • 2013 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Champans 94 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru

    Light ruby with blueish highlights. The nose is intense and captivating, with fragrant aromas of blossom, raspberry coulis, and ripe plums dusted with some white pepper. With fabulous precision and refinement on entry, the wine has a rich, succulent texture layered with fleshy fruits and a chalky undertow. The whole is a seamless balance of purity, energy, and focus that extends to an impressively long minerally finish, balancing power and finesse.

  • 2014 Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso Calderara Sottana 93 Points

    Italy, Sicily, Etna DOC

    Shimmering ruby red in colour. An expressive nose that combines mineral, stone and volcanic qualities with freshly tilled earth and a red Bing cherry/raspberry melee, all finished with a generous twist of sea salt. The entry is tight and linear with raspberry compote and saline edges, a plush texture and bright acidity. Wonderfully detailed and precise, the mid-palate has excellent concentration, with chalky tannins providing structure. It closes long with more sea kelp, seaweed, and briny notes.
    Made from Nerello Mascalese grown on the Calderara Sottana vineyard that is located on Etna’s northern slopes at 650 metres above sea level.
    They ferment in SS and mature in oak barrels.

  • 2006 Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 92 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

    Pale ruby with slight garnet reflections. A captivating nose of intense red cherry, piercing cranberry and rose petals with that classic line of tar. A sweet fruit entry is framed by firm, sticky tannins and a refreshing acidity that gives tension and energy to the wine. Exuding elegance, precision and complexity, the wine has some density to the mid-palate as it closes with sweeter fruits to give a long, persistent farewell. A little austere at present.
    From Nebbiolo grown in the Bricco Boschis vineyard. Traditional vinification with long maceration and ageing in large Slavonian oak casks.

  • 2015 Château Troplong Mondot 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

    Deep saturated garnet in colour. A super-ripe bold nose dominated by raisin-like aromas, dark fruits, bitter chocolate (90%) and coffee grinds but not tarry. There is a warmth to the wine. The entry is warm and accommodating, with glycerol sweetness leading to a concentrated and densely structured wine. There are overwhelming dried fruits and spices, and despite its Merlot dominance, it seems more black than red fruits. Opulent and powerful, it feels a little over the top and showy for a St. Emilion, yet it is well made with finely-grained tannins leading to a long finish. Most interesting is that the heat was bearable despite the remarkable 16.9% (!) alcohol. Still needs time in the bottle.
    A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
