Introduction

Decided to try a wine bar in a more remote location (12th and 1st). ORdered some tasty bites and 4 wines. Great staff, nice atmosphere - not too crowded on a Friday night - although full and the service was spot on.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2002 Primitivo Quiles Alicante Raspay Reserva 85 Points

    Spain, Valencia, Alicante

Color: deep red with some bricking
aroma: caramel and candy, almost like a kids Halloween Bag
Flavor: Carmel and strawberry with a little plastic and a touch of oak. Could almost use this as an ice cream sauce.

This wa fun to drink, very different, but maybe just as a sipping wine, I can't imagine what food would pair with this.

  • 2001 Famiglia Anselma Barolo 88 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

    Color: DeepRed/Brown
    Aroma: Spicy with plum
Flavor: Raisens, earth a little spice and plum. This had a nice soft finish - the tannins were not overpowering.

The first trial sip was from a bottle opened the day before. When we approved and asked for a glass, they had to opne a new bottle. The wine was dramatically diferrent - this wine needs time to open up. Even after half hour it didn't show all the flavors that the previosly opened bottle did.
