France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Last bottle from a batch purchased directly from the vintner in CdP. Its been interesting to drink over its life.
Deep gold color. Nose of orchard fruits. Palate showing slight maderization, seemed to fade on Day 2. Still good but moving into a tertiary phase. Drink up
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
First bottle of this designate for this vintage. Decanted for about 30 minutes prior to drinking. Had with an eggplant lasagna
Medium ruby color. Nose showing bright red berries, floral notes, spices. Palate showing high toned red fruits, strawberry, rhubarb, black tea, baking spice. Elegant texture. Medium body and finish.
Improved with time open, suggesting a longer decant if venue allows. Pelos Sandberg has been a consistently good designate for BTF. In a good spot now but should drink at this level for a while. Great wine from great vintners. WOTN for this group.
NV De'Ricci Aerae Brut 86 Points
Italy, Tuscany, Vino da Tavola
First wine with some cheeses.
Light straw/gold color. Nose of orchard fruits and mild brioche. Palate of green apple, batonnage. Medium body, short finish.
Good as an aperitif.
