A few years can certainly do this some good, but it is still a village wine that will only improve so much from here.

The structure shows off youth, but it’s also a little coarse to where it may not really resolve. If the structure properly resolves and this smoothes out in time, it can certainly improve a fair bit. If not, it’s a good wine, but a bit blocky and awkward at the moment.

The feel is just gorgeous as there is a lot of poise and depth with a lovely finish. This is really firing right now and it feels like it has entered its window.

The Medium bodied feel shows off the darker quality of the nose with an understated robustness along with tart, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins that have a bit of stiffness. This shows off a darker profile across the nose and palate while still being pretty open. It isn’t as expressive as the 2007 was, but it’s still lovely and intriguing.

The nose shows off a similar dark profile to the CSJ, but with a less expressive and slightly chunky take to the tones of dark red cherries, cranberries, raspberries, earth notes, and some tobacco leaf. The Medium/full bodied feel has some heft, but less chiseled qualities along with tart, medium acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins. The tannins are showing some resolution, but are also a touch stiff. If the feel can balance and round out better, I can see this kicking it up a level. If not, then this is good but somewhat lacking expression and intellect.

Simply put, this bottle isn’t bringing much joy right now. It’s resolved, but is too ripe on the nose and palate with a lack of depth or expression.

The nose is robust, but refined and deep with gorgeous tones of red cherries, red berries, raspberries, rose petals, spice notes, some leather, and a touch of tobacco. While there is a lot going on right now, it feels like the nose is still holding back just a tad. The Medium/full bodied feel is deft, deep, and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. This is really sexy right now, but with there being another gear that this can kick on into. I can certainly see this developing even more with another 5ish years as there is excellent density, depth, and freshness across the nose and palate right now.

The nose is lifted, elegant, and perfumed with fresh and pretty tones of strawberries, red cherries, fresh picked red berries, earth notes, licorice, fresh herbs, leather, and rose petals. There is good depth and expression here, but this doesn’t seem to bring the level of depth I’d want from this level. The Medium bodied feel is deft and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins that have basically resolved. This is a pretty and elegant Bonnes Mares, but it’s not hitting that next level like I’d want or expect.

This is so heady and perfumed with a savory take to the tones of dark red fruits, dark red cherries, raspberries, menthol, spice tones, leather, earth notes, and a good dose of rose petals. There is excellent depth as it just flows out of the glass. The Medium bodied feel is refined and deep with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. The structure is still present, but it isn’t the dominating force. This is just gorgeous and showing so beautifully.
This just hits those gorgeous, savory qualities that I love from this vineyard as the tones of raspberries, cranberries, earth notes, savory spices, herbs, and some purple florals just emit from the glass. The Medium bodied feel is broad shouldered and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins that have effectively resolved. This is really lovely and just showing great right now.

The reduction is the most noticeable thing, but it isn’t fully dominating while it does show off excellent complexity of tree fruits. The Medium bodied feel is robust and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity that has good freshness. A couple of years could likely benefit this to see if the reduction integrates better.

This was really grooving and showing off so much balance and complexity with deep tones of red apples, quince, pears, roasted nuts, marshmallows, some lemon oil, yellow flowers, some match stick, and vanilla beans. The nose is pretty open with some restrained power behind it, but with a sense of style to boot. The Medium/Full bodied feel is robust, deep, and textured with racy and mouthwatering, medium+ acidity that has some youthful cut. This shows off great balance and length across the nose and palate with the same amount of depth. This can definitely improve with another 3-5+ years of aging, though it’s really good right now.
