Non-vintage. Made from 100% Chardonnay, bottled 8 April 2020, disgorged 10 May 2024, bottle no. 2511/10.000 produced, 12% ABV. Quite reductive on the nose, lovely citrus and stone fruit, energetic and fresh, bright acidity, silky but vibrant mousse, stony mineralty, hint of nuttiness, dry finish, very good length.
From a 1.7ha plot at the bottom of a ‘Combe’. A well balanced vintage Chiara tells me, with some timely rain which pushed back the harvest date by ten days and allowed better phenolic ripeness. Whole bunch, temperature controlled fermentation for the first time. Tart citrus with real depth behind, mildly reductive, floral lift, lots of salty minerality, elegant weight, firm and well integrated acidity, good power and concentration, minerally drive on the finish, excellent length. Considerable upside potential.
Pale golden colour; lanolin on the nose, beautifully developed aromatic complexity, spicy orange marmalade, leather and old furniture; on the palate the firm acidic core carries the wine effortlessly together with firm bitters, very intense, spicy depth, salty sour butter notes are powerful but not oxidative; lingering finish. Reminiscent of Rheingau Riesling from Teresa Breuer but also of Sherry and of Lopez de Heredia, but without any oak. Mysterious, great complexity, thought provoking.
Same production method as the Trebbiano, 1.3 ha. More aromatic than than the Trebbiano, more floral and lifted, deep limestone minerality underneath, firm bitters, almost Riesling-like elegance, very good length.
Very youthful, pure and bright, elegant yet concentrated, steely acidity, stemmy energy, grippy tannins, tightly wound, lots of limestone minerality, embryonic, salty and long and minerally finish. Still unformed, long career ahead. Drink 2032-2052.
Orange golden colour; marvellous nose, bursting with Malvasia fragrance, rich and fragrant; juicy and sweet fruit on the palate, in a lovely interplay with vibrant acidity and finely grained bitters; excellent persistence, very long finish.
