Spring flowers and crisp apple and lemon with very good weight. Clearly Extra Brut in its taut brightness, which really allowed the fruit to shine and didn't dominate. Very enjoyable now.

Popped-and-poured, then revisited several times over 2+ hours. Dark color, but no concern there. Caramel apple, baked apple and mushrooms with a court bouillon note to start that was more interesting than exciting. This brightened up with more air and even put on weight while still highlighting plenty of baked apple and nut butter. Ended as an fun and exciting wine.

Following the Lafon 1980, this was obviously fresh and vibrant, while also rich. Floral with fresh/ ripe apple, toasted walnut and a hint of marzipan, easily bound in an energetic, minerally package. Very good now.
Served to us double blind by the restaurant. Reduction that never fully went away but with good underlying fruit and volume underneath. Good potential with more cellar time and air, but impossible to fairly assess. I initially thought this a very young Burgundy made in the Coche style, but too reductive for its own good. Others wondered if from Jura. I moved away from Chardonnay as this opened up (while still reductive) and finally played the player (Basque steak house) and remembered a previous Spanish white emulating Coche that was too reductive, so correctly identified this as Spanish.

In vertical. Red and black cherry aromas and flavors to start, this fairly quickly lost steam. An imperfect bottle based on prior experience with the wine.

This continues to show as one of the greatest of the 2001s. Black and red cherry with meat and subtle spice. Simply great balance and harmony with very good density and a weightless, textural feel I more often associate with good Musigny. This wine keeps getting better.

In vertical. Mature red cherry and berry with spice, earth, and lots of nuance. Not the most powerful example of this terroir, but charming, complex and so well composed. I served this blind, and nobody thought it from 2004. I would never have thought that, either. Bravo, Hubert. I haven't had this wine in 8 years and it is better now than in its youth, and the final glass was almost as good the 2nd night.
From 2020. A fine expression of Chartreuse, even if not ass the ultra complex notes, but a worthy liqueur that proved a wonderful finish to the evening.

2017 Bouchard Père et Fils Meursault 1er Cru Gouttes d'Or 91 Points
