No. 6751. Showing fairly mature at this point; there's a softness to the tannins that really demonstrates that. Plenty of smoke, olive, and all that usual good stuff, with a little coarse tannin on the finish. Like previous bottles, this is clearly a demonstration that this, like a recent 2002, is a mature Chave, ready to drink at the 20-year mark. I love the meatiness and the restrained feral animale notes here. No surprise -- Chave pulls it off in every vintage.
Solid stuff; a bit rounded and generous on the palate, with plenty of sweet fruit. Perhaps the relatively ripe vintage is responsible for that. Missing some of the sharp, chewy minerality I want in a Meursault, but this is plenty delicious all the same, if price is no object...
An absolutely brilliant wine. Just the right balance of minerality and fruit here -- it's got the herbal tones that riesling ought to have, but also a very nice rounded palate that shaves off all the sharp corners that this bottling can have. Brilliant stuff as always -- I love the ES GGs so much.

And interesting and compelling wine, but in the very early throes of youth. It's missing the maturity and complexity that I would expect, but the juicy, southern France fruit coupled with that meaty, feral, wild animal quality is pretty impressive already. Clearly, this will be more interesting with the benefit of a decade. Hopefully the fruit triumphs over the funk.
