Flight 1 - Sparkling (1 Note)

  • NV Duval-Leroy Champagne Cuvée Design Paris 88 Points

    France, Champagne

    Light yellow color. Aromas of yeast, ripe red apples, some robustness on the nose. Very different on the palate, driven by a lively acidity, notes of citrus and green apples. A bit more full-bodied on the finish. The mousse disappears too quickly.

Flight 2 - First white flight (1 Note)

  • 2006 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne-Aligoté 90 Points

    France, Burgundy, Bourgogne-Aligoté

    Light yellow color. Weird, intense nose with notes of flowers, chamomile, chemicals, lacquer and a bit of cat litter box. On the palate it has a closed and introverted feel, with some glue, heavy flowers and anise. Good intensity and length.

Flight 3 - Second white flight (1 Note)

    Straw yellow color. Very intense but clean nose, with notes of butter, nuts, ripe yellow plum and mirabelle. Similar notes on the palate, butter, nuts and yellow fruit, and a bit of mushroom on the finish. Great mouthfeel and intensity, really live and kicking right now.

Flight 4 - Third white flight (2 Notes)

  • 1995 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series 94 Points

    Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Margaret River

    Amber color. Very aromatic nose dominated by oak, vanila and cream caramel. The oak also dominates the palate, adding a lots of sweetness to the taste. Still there is plenty of yellow fruit - exotic. Powerful, intense with a long finish, almost vulgar but well balanced with acidity and complexity. A super pleaser.

  • 1995 Remoissenet Père et Fils Le Montrachet 91 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru

    Golden amber color. Mushroom, glue, chemicals on the not so giving nose. Lively acidity on the palate, but the taste is also more intense giving some white flowers, mushrooms and minerals. It gains more power with air and at the time I finish my glass it was definitely better than right out of the bottle.

    Intense golden amber color. Intense nose with notes of nuts, butter and some cream caramel. Equally powerful over the palate, tight and clean yellow fruit, plums, butter, nuts and caramel. Very nicely developed chardonnay, with near perfect balance and finesse.

Flight 6 - First red flight (2 Notes)

  • 2005 Domaine Joblot Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cellier Aux Moines 91 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Givry 1er Cru

    Clear red color. Slushed cowberry and candied red berries on the intense fruity nose. Tight, clean raspberry and blueberry with a bit of earth on the palate. Good body and a bit of vegetable on the finish. Very tight at the moment but enough fruit for cellaring.

  • 2005 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Chambolle-Musigny 90 Points

    Light red color. At first a bit of funk that seemed to blow of with air, then some strawberry, dry matter and vegetable notes on the nose. More fruit on the palate and fine mouth fill. Strawberries and earth, gaining weight with air, but remains in a somewhat closed state.

    Light red color with an orange hue. Fine roses and red flowers, some nail polish and tobaco on the nose. Fine, elegant rustic notes on the palate, leather, barn and dunghill. Really nice intensity and length.

  • 1991 Louis Latour Corton Domaine Latour 94 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru

    Light red color with a browning hue. Farmyard nose with some wild strawberry and country roses. More roses, leather and farmyard on the palate, good intensity and mouthfill. Some licorise on the long finish, dry but still with the necessary fruit. Quite impressive intensity for a wine of this age.

    Beautiful red center and a brown hue. Classic old Burgundy nose with leather, roses, tobaco and dried fruit. Delicious, yet delicate nuances over the palate. Light wild strawberry, roses still lively. Very nice complexity on the midpalate and finish with tobaco, leather and herbs. Wow.

  • 1964 Charles Vienot Corton 90 Points

    Cola browning color. The nose seems oxidized, raisin, and a bit off with a rubber note. Better on the palate, some leather, tobaco and candied fruit, but also burned sugar, caramel and signs of oxidation. Probably a bit over.

    Light yellow color. Nice aromas of grape, lemon, wet stone and white flowers. Delicious clean and fresh on the palate, with white flowers and minerals. Good intensity and a striking acidity.
