Pretty, earthy, jubey, cherry backed by red currant, a little savoury wild ferment underpin, tiny hoppy notes, dusty spice. Juicy, savoury, quite bitter on the palate, a little reductive, needs time; quite closed.

2023 Kerri Greens Pinot Noir Foothills

Quite seaside notes, a little funky, mineral, earthy, muted red berry fruit shows raspberry. Juicy, fleshy, savoury, silky burr, wetly dilute with slight cranberry joining the fresh raspberry, simple. Slightly bitter on the finish.

2023 Kerri Greens Pinot Noir Messire

Medium minus intensity aromas are savoury, clay, earthy, a touch of red liquorice, smells like it might be a little dilute. Juicy, bitter, a touch of amaro bitters, drying grip, not very nice for me.

Very slightly ashy whole bunch, dark hued fruits, sweet spice, with a little savoury underpin. Near perfect acid/tannin balance, dark hued fruits behind this. Savoury, tight, time but nice.

Wild ferment savoury noes are integrated with a touch of ashy whole bunch, dark berries, earthy underpin, fruit lozenge. Medium plus intensity acidity , slightly coarse, flour textured tannins, dark fruits are non delineated on the palate, simple with a slight bitterness on the finish. Hmm. Time

2023 Stonier Pinot Noir Reserve

Ashy whole bunch up front and in charge on the nose lending quite savoury spices, a little dark berry fruit behind this. Medium plus intensity acidity feels adjusted, out of whack to the woody drying tannins, that acid makes the fruit a little more red hued in the mouth. Bah.

Struck match, reductive notes and whole bunch - smells like a bacon flavoured crisp. Juicy acid but reductive with drying woody grip and little else. Meh.

2022 Lowestoft Pinot Noir La Maison

Pretty but slightly dilute smelling red hued fruits and a touch of funky wild ferment make up a quite simple nose. In the mouth the wine has medium plus intensity acidity, fruit tea and grippy tannins, it's a little unbalanced and finishes quite bitter. Time may help but probably not.

Touch of struck match, red and black berry fruit backed by some sweet oak spice. In the mouth it's juicy, fleshy, the fruit very slightly tart, tannins quite drying and offering a coarse rasp. Simple. Hmm.

2022 Empire of Dirt Pinot Noir Fuck the Patriarchy

Ashy whole bunch dominates earthy and savoury notes with a red currant, cranberry underpin. I think this is going to be lean and mean on the palate…And so it proves - sour snakes, smidge of volatility, bitter drying tannins suck all the saliva from the tongue, an exercise in masochism.

2021 By Farr Pinot Noir RP Côte Vineyard

Pretty, bold red berry fruit, touch of sweet spice, slight fruit lozenge notes and, with time, some whole bunch ashiness encroaches and grows to become more dominant on the nose. Juicy, fleshy, plenty of power, alcohol warmth is well handled, bold, a little blocky but has promise.

2023 Lethbridge Wines Pinot Noir

Savoury, meaty, a little bacon fat, muted red over black fruits have a slightly rubbery reductive note. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity but integrated, raw silk textured tannic rasp is moderately drying, red hued fruit here as well and persist, quite tangy on the finish, non-intrusive alcohol warmth. Hmm.

2024 Clyde Park Pinot Noir

Initially bonfire ash and red hued fruits, a oak and stalk derived spice and a tiny lifted almost volatile note. Mote of the same on the palate with silky tannins but it's all a bit dialled back and <shrugs>. Out of the context of this tasting it will probably be a perfectly pleasant, serviceable midweek Pinot.

2022 Clyde Park Pinot Noir Block B2

Medium minus intensity aromas show meaty, earthy note with slight whole bunch and plenty of sweet spice. Juicy, fleshy but quite dialled back here, the nose and the palate show quite muted fruit and well managed silky tannins but, like the estate Pinot Noir, it's a bit <shrugs>

2022 Mount Mary Pinot Noir

Toasted oak, a little wild ferment, bacon fat, touches of black fruits. Juicy, fleshy, blackberry and slight blackcurrant, plenty of woody texture, long, palate nicer than the nose. Pleasant.

2024 Nomads Garden Pinot Noir Glenmore Springs

bacon fat, sweet spice, a little alcohol prickle, muted red fruits, slightly savoury meaty underpin. Juicy, quite lean and linear on the palate, fruit is similarly muted here, plenty of tannins, possibly a bit too much for the fruit.

Gun flint, sweet spice, dark hued fruits with a red berry underpin, a little whole bunch. This is leaner on the palate, though, more red hued fruits, lean and a little ungenerous. Damn.

2024 Utzinger Wines Pinot Noir White Label

Slightly reductive with a touch of volatility (?), red over black hued fruits, pinch of sweet spice. Juicy, fleshy, chalky mineral tannins are quite wet stone sucking in quality, red over blackberry fruit. Nicer palate but the slight VA on the nose says drink up in the next year or so.

2022 Utzinger Wines Pinot Noir Estate (Black Label)

Medium minus intensity aromas of dark and slightly brooding fresh berry fruit, earhty savoury notes with slight wild ferment underpin, a little sour red berry fruit here as well. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, tangy but then silky textured burr takes over; finishes a little bitter with a whisper of the fruit implied by the nose. Time should help if the fruit can persist.

2024 Mayer Pinot Noir Close Planted

Medium minus intensity aromas of pretty red berry fruit with a meaty underpin, touch of sweet spice, dialled back whole bunch. That whole bunch is more obviously on the palate lending an ashy quality and joining with the tannins to create a dried out mid palate. Bah.

2022 Marion's Vineyard Pinot Noir

Oof! An odd, almost cork taint note, initially is most strange but, with agitation, blows off to reveal fresh, slightly unripe, dark hued fruits; berries especially, and plenty of spice. Juicy, fleshy, wetly enjoyable with dark hued fruits, super silky persistent tannins that are drying though the fruit persists. Nice.

Oxidised with caramel, slight rancio, behind this some lactic notes, red hued fruits. More of the same o the palate joined by medium plus intensity acidity, plenty of texture. It's quite sherry really and not really Pinot at all. I'm guessing this bottle would be a FLAW

Savoury, slightly meaty, touch of wild ferment, muted red hued fruit, oak spice, there is a slightly sharp metallic note here as well. Juicy, palate has a fruit sweet core, red hued by non delineated, tannins re drying, powdery, grippy, close things down a little fruit persists. time to come together.

Slight whole bunch, fresh red and black fruit, fair amount of oak spice. In the mouth the whole bunch combines with the tannins to create a fairly blocky savoury impression, alcohol warmth on the finish. Ugh.
