Introduction

Went out to pop culture with Norman and Joel on a nice Friday evening.

Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • NV Laurent-Perrier Champagne La Cuvée Brut 90 Points

    France, Champagne

Noticeably reductive with plenty of smoke on the nose right after it was poured. Great acid, minerality, and apple, pear, and nut notes. Refreshing overall

  • NV José Michel & Fils Champagne Premices 91 Points

    France, Champagne

Beautiful copper color - it is 70% Munier, 30% chardonnay, which I think struck a great balance in this. There's that fun, fruity Munier nose with berries, orange peel, and lemon, but also good depth on the palette with great acid and sudsy bubbles.

  • NV Domaine Chandon Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs 88 Points

USA, California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder

I think I prefer this to their champagne offering... it's a really fun, tasty wine with tons of brioche, biscuit, butter on top of lemon cookies. A bit of nuttiness too. An easy way to get a bread blast. That being said, do not let this get even a bit warm. Some pretty overpowering, very ripe flavors start to dominate and the wine feels like it's falling apart a bit. I usually find sparkling wine served too cold at many places, but this wine is one that demands that treatment.

  • NV Graham Beck Brut Rosé 88 Points

    South Africa, Western Cape

Nice red fruits and berries coming across immediately on the nose. The aromas aren't particularly powerful, maybe medium overall. Noticeable creaminess on the palette, a bit of toast and nut too. Lacking intensity overall and the finish is ok. Definitely a tasty, creamy rose sparkling overall.
