France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
bottle open previous night, mainly Merlot plus Cab Franc and Cab Sauvignon, 13.50% The wine shows ruby colour with garnet hues The wine shows evolution, overripe red cherry notes, earthy, a bit warm, sweet spices, prunes, vanilla. Palate again fully evolved, overripe red cherry, coffee, some goaty notes, lacks complexity, feels going downhill too, olive notes, dissolved tannins, short to med finish
Super fragrant in the nose, floral notes (carnation), high intensity, spices, red cherry notes, cranberry notes, pomegranate notes. Palate shows juicy red notes, the same flavour profile, rich red cherry notes, berry, a few VA notes lifting the aromatics but also adding a more caustic nuance here, med body, med tannins, med finish. Interesting but probably better with food rather than on its own to take some of the acidity away. Quite fresh and juicy though. 12.50%
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Ripe, exotic, spice, a bit warm, waxy, some herb and honey notes. Palate shows big palate, again waxy, glycerin, ripe pineapple, full body, med finish, 14.50%

France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Forward, ripe, floral notes, red fruit notes, the oak is upfront, some candy notes. Palate shows some rubber notes, very tight, scorching hot (16%), cranbery notes, med finish
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
2hr decant, sampled from magnum Thick blue and black fruit, depth, compact, massive thick weet oak notes, some VA in the back. The palate shows massive body, overripe black fruit, blue berry, thick, very hot (16%), steely, tight tannins and aggressive, overly extracted, long finish. A behemoth of a wine, its more pleasant than feared though
