  • 1975 Château Rausan-Ségla 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Developed, complex nose - tobacco, caramel, a touch of the antique shop, vestiges of dried red fruit, medium bodied, soft tannins, fresh acidity which perhaps sticks out a bit of the medium/good length finish. Holding together well but drink soon.

  • 1995 Château Rauzan-Ségla 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Very mature nose, caramel, lightly smoky, liquorice. Some over-ripe, pruned notes too. Medium bodied, some red toned fruit on the palate, smoke and mineral, fresh acidity, tannins poking through a bit on the medium/good length finish. Not the best 95. Drink up.

  • 1996 Château Rauzan-Ségla 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

10/15, excellent cork. Double decanted about 3 hours in advance. Lovely, classic claret nose with blackcurrant fruit, smoke, gravel and a touch of cedar. Medium bodied, cool, leafy black fruit, smoke, mineral, some richness here, fine tannins, fresh acidity and finishes well with gravelly mineral notes. Lovely, drinking well but no hurry.

Flight 3 (2 Notes)

  • 2000 Château Rauzan-Ségla 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Cedary black fruit, spice, some caramel. Medium/full bodied, cedary dark fruit, quite soft, even structureless, decent length finish. Perhaps not fully representative and/or served a touch warm.

  • 2002 Château Rauzan-Ségla 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

8/13, excellent cork. Double decanted about 3 hours prior to serving.
Lovely, classic claret nose, leafy black fruit, tobacco. Medium bodied, attractively lean with black fruit, smoke, tobacco, slightly firm but fine tannins, fresh/vibrant acids, good length grippy finish. Excellent, old fashioned claret. Drinking now, no particular hurry.

Flight 4 (3 Notes)

  • 2004 Château Rauzan-Ségla 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Blackcurrant fruit again to the fore, some smoke, cedar. Medium bodied, with fine, quite soft tannins, fresh acids, good length finish. An excellent 2004, drinking well but again, no hurry.

  • 2005 Château Rauzan-Ségla 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Slightly closed initially, slowly opened to reveal dark fruit, vanilla, touch of chocolate and then some smoke and cedar coming through. Medium/full bodied, quite layered with ripe blackcurrant fruit, touch of cedary complexity, firm tannins but they’re very fine and well covered by the fruit, fresh acids, extended finish. Excellent, can just about be approached but should improve - one for the long haul.

  • 2006 Château Rauzan-Ségla 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

This was a little quiet on the nose, some redder toned fruit, touch of earth. Medium bodied, quite mellow on the palate with resolved tannins, fresh acids, medium/good length finish. Found this a little difficult to read.

Flight 5 (3 Notes)

  • 2011 Château Rauzan-Ségla 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

This has a nice, open, aromatic pure fruited nose - again blackcurrant to the fore. Touch of unintegrated oak spice. Medium bodied, lightly savoury on the palate, lightly grippy finish. Quite liked this and certainly approachable.

  • 2015 Château Rauzan-Ségla 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

This has a youthful, rich nose, dark fruit, vanilla oak, touch of mocha. Some alcohol in evidence too. Full bodied, plush with rich dark fruit, firm tannins, moderate acidity, has decent depth and length but it’s a bit of a bruiser. Best left for a few years! 89?

  • 2016 Château Rauzan-Ségla 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Lovely pure dark fruited nose - blackcurrant, some mulberry, some herbal notes too. Medium bodied, lovely pure dark fruit, touch of cedary complexity and spice, very refined tannins, fresh acids, expands nicely on the finish. Lovely, just about drinkable now but will undoubtedly improve.
