Jean-Francois had mentioned that 75% of the 216 harvest was lost due to mildew. He called it a disaster of a harvest. This wine has some funky notes on the nose, including DEET. Funky soil, too. Quite expressive and unique, though. Clean palate entry, but an odd textural feeling. Almost hollow. Notes are mineral, berries, and soil. lean, but that texture is just so odd. A nice dialup of acidity on the finish, which is puckering, showing light tannins. Lots of soil tones here, and a bit of funk. Not much tannic structure at first, but it is the tannins that linger as dryness. The wine is pretty awkward at present, and I'm not sure if it will get better. Perhaps an off vintage for the red.

This has been kept in the fridge at E&R for 6 months, and here we are drinking the remains. Let's see how it did: The aromas are absolutely incredible and unique. Such a rich, strong, profound blend of aroma that I find so beautiful. Pretty and unique on the palate, showing some bitter herbs, and a very deep, strong medicinal note but in the prettiest way possible. Gorgeous finish. Bitter, strong, beautiful and complex. A very unique wine, but oh so pretty. I find how I score this wine seems just to be on the whim of the night... it's such a unique "wine," and some times I'm in the mood for it and sometimes I'm not, I think. This is my third sore of this wine and I doubt each bottle I've had has varied that much.
