    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

    2013 flight. Rich and layered this gives an intense old vine concentration with both sweet and savory elements throughout. Far better than a tired bottle from two weeks ago.

  • 2013 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chevalier-Montrachet 96 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru

    2013 flight. Intense orchard fruit with robust spiced and floral start. Great intensity from right out of the gate through to its very long finish. Maybe even better today vs a magnum lasty year in the Moreau cellar in Chassagne.

    In 2013 flight. Stunning aromas. This is the magic of the vintage, with lean but complex combining with botrytis hints into something I couldn't imagine in its youth. Intense with so much density and weight, this really kept unfurling nuance after nuance in glass over the course of the afternoon. Fantastic.

  • 1969 Maison Leroy Grands-Echezeaux 93 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru

    Old Maison Leroy flight. Prototypically Vosne spice with mostly mature red fruits and very good weight, just still showing surprisingly big tannins. Not quite perfectly harmonious but lots here to really enjoy, and slightly better than the 1986 Chambertin. Open 4 hours before serving.

    In older Maison Leroy flight. Meaty black and red fruits with overall good balance, just not the same heft or volume as the 1969 Grands-Echezeaux, but also showcasing its terroir well. Open 2 hours before serving.

    2006 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti flight. Lush red fruits start-to-finish with so much Asian five spice and enough structure to make this bright and very engaging. Several hours in decanter.

    2006 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti flight. Even more air and decanter time, but this was never fully forthcoming despite wonderful balance. So much upside.

  • 2006 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg 95 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru

    2006 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti flight. Bold red berry and cherry aromas with baking spice, slightly broader and blacker array of fruit flavors, all with very good density. Not quite at its sweet spot in terms of its Richebourginess, but its talking all Vosne with lots more to come.
