Introduction

This tasting was a strong showing and a very positive surprise. The wines were impressive across the board. The pinots featured an excellent balance of fruit and savory character, with very distinct site differences. The chardonnays were well balanced between taut minerality and a kiss of golden fruit; there is a touch of light reduction on the chards but Will does not specifically pursue reduction in the way that Walter Scott, Goodfellow, or Morgen Long might. The house style overall is quite restrained in the scheme of the valley generally but the wines have more accessible fruit at this early juncture than a Goodfellow or similar.
