Young Joni, NE Mpls

We've had many a good meal and excellent wines at Young Joni over the years. Tonight 5 of us gathered to bid a fond farewell as YJ comes to a conclusion at the end of the month (BB, DM, ML, JV, KB). We came in at six without a reservation to hopefully grab a table. We got a lucky and caught the corner of a communal table that worked out quite nicely in the end. The food was good as always, and the wine did not dissappoint. Adieu, old friend.
NV A. R. Lenoble Champagne Brut Rosé Terroirs 92 Points
France, Champagne
Pale salmon color. Drank a glass over 40 minutes. This was really quite lovely, offering a finely knit tapestry of red berries, yeast, almond pastry and crisp mineral notes. Lively and and rather refined.

2022 Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis 93 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Roero
Light gold color. Drank a glass plus over 90 minutes. I always find this wine pretty riveting. It has so much going on together with the general verve and energy. Great nose, stone fruits, the white peach stands out in particular, white flowers, lifted on the nose and palate; nicely woven together, with a lime and citrus infusion to the stone fruits on the palate, and bit of pepper then the back end is capped by that crystalline minerality and sophisticate personality. Love it. 92+ to 93pts.

2015 Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Zaccharie 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Côte de Brouilly
Medium red color. Slow-o for 2 hours, drank a glass over an hour. Same bottle as Bellissimo. Black cherry on the nose, really quite aromatic, offer a mix of dried earth and underbrush, iodone, and red cherry. The palate is medium bodied, showing the darker cherry and some darker berry fruits, along with the iodine and underbrush there are some tannins that still provide some hold. Drinking well.

2018 Giovanni Montisci Cannonau di Sardegna Barrosu 91 Points
Italy, Sardinia, Cannonau di Sardegna
Dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over 30 minutes plus. The nose excels here; tar, oil, dried herbs, juniper, raspberry and pepper. The palate is medium full bodied, red fruits, lacquer, garrigue'like aromatic herbs, fairly big and a bit intense, then mellows considerably in glass. I think a little more time with this would have been interesting. 91(+?)pts.

1989 Château Suduiraut 94 Points
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Medium amber color. Drank a glass over 20 minutes plus from 375ml. This was in fine form tonight, as it so typically has been. Elegant, pear, dried orange peel, apricot, honey, golden flowers, apple tart, creme brulee on the nose. The palate is syrupy in texture; the acid is there and this comes off remarkably fresh tonight. Honey, orange marmalade, pear, apricot, creme brulee, spice and brown sugar on a long finish. This was a fine way to cap off our final evening at Young Joni. 14k.
