the chap from Viberti was over from Italy visiting so he took us though his wines.

  • 2023 Viberti Giovanni Barbera d'Alba La Gemella

    Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba

    Slightly dusty glass. Pretty cherry, a little sweet spice. Medium plus intensity acidity, baked cherry, slightly bitter grippy tannins and drying, tight, simple.

  • 2022 Viberti Giovanni Langhe Nebbiolo

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC

    Red hued fruits, a little cherry, pretty and jubey, a touch of dusty spice, slightly dilute smelling. Juicy acidity a little red hued fruits, textured tannic grip but still the sense of diluteness, balanced though.

  • 2020 Viberti Giovanni Barolo Buon Padre

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

    Fruit tea, a little almost caramel, sweet spice, cherry again. In the mouth it's juicy, very slightly bitter but otherwise perfect balance of acid, tannins and fruit. Rather pleasant.

    Peach, melon, clean, simple. Juicy, fleshy, fruit as per the nose, simple here as well, a little silky burr is slightly drying, pleasant but not at AUD 38.

    Musk, grape, pretty floral notes, fragrant, a little savoury underpin, crisp mousse, super floral and fresh with a sweet fruit core, juicy, simple, charming.

    Italy, Piedmont, Colli Tortonesi

    Saline notes, fresh herbs, a little stone fruit, green citrus. Medium plus intensity acidity , savoury, saline, textured, muted fruit but all travels long, all about structure. Hmm.

This was pleasant experience and I picked up a bottle of their Barolo.
