  • 2014 La Chablisienne Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

First blind of the dozen and we're off to a good start. Big, dense nose with lemon-accented riper orchard fruit. Big and chunky with expected Grand Cru concentration. Youthfully taut yet detailed finish that flashes some subtle wood. Impressive.

  • 2014 Domaine Louis Moreau Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Everything is a bit more lean and closed in on this wine. Muted nose that reveals orchard and citrus fruit with reduction. Bright, energetic and taut with a clear stainless steel signature. Pure.

  • 2014 Domaine Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

An immediately intense, terrific nose that flashes lemon peel and oyster shell. The palate has great concentration with a steely, taut character - big time salinity and iodine flavors accent a long chiseled finish. Just barely in it's drinking window.

Flight 3 (3 Notes)

  • 2014 François Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Very fresh and crisp nose with typical Chablis notes and floral accents. The palate is steely, very bright and and super crisp. Classic, yes, but lacking depth and concentration. On reveal, yikes, the questions arise, "was it just too young"?. Bottom-quartile showing today, yelp.

  • 2014 Maison Albert Bichot Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos Domaine Long-Depaquit 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Wow, lovely nose with almost creamy fruit made interesting with floral, citrus and slight reduction notes. Woza, so concentrated and gorgeously rich while bright. Intense, chiseled and long finish. This is the Raveneau, right?

  • 2014 Domaine Dublère Chablis Grand Cru Bougros 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Despite being open for a few hours, this initially poured with weird bruised fruit nose that thankfully freshens up considerably. Palate is classic with lots of oyster shell and ripping acidity. Fun but on the simpler side of things.

Flight 4 (3 Notes)

  • 2014 Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Gorgeous, expressive aromas that lead with citrus and oyster shell layered orchard fruit. The palate has so much concentration, richness and volume yet yet bright and racy. Long and powerful finish that is deliciously creamy while electric. Impressive and in an early drinking window.

  • 2014 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Full nose that is clean with loads of of oyster shell laced orchard fruit. Palate is screaming with acid and energy that settles down on the mid-palate with young, but well-concentrated orchard fruit. Racy finish - good now, upside from here.

  • 2014 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

EU Bottling. Lovely, captivating nose with bright fruit but a clear nod to iodine and salinity. The palate has very good concentration but is racy and crisp. Seriously intense and concentrated with intense iodine. Guessed this was Dauvissat given the tell-tale iodine.

Flight 5 (3 Notes)

  • 2014 Domaine Laroche Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

The most mature of the line up with bruised fruit featured in the aromas. Palate also shows mature with a cider-like personality. Still has acidity and verve, but late peak window, which is an outlier in the line up. Second bottle opened as the first was even more advanced.

  • 2014 Domaine Billaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Bright lemon and lemon meringue nose for days. The palate leads with zingy, crunchy acidity and makes you look for the orchard and citrus fruits. Feels a bit compact. Too young? Had 3+ hours of a slow-ox.

  • 2014 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

VB bottling (with the EU bottling in the same line up). I thought the two bottlings were awfully close - but others saw more white space. Nose has great orchard fruit with citrus and mineral. Palate is concentrated, big and wound up though this flashes iodine in the long, chiseled finish. Upside from here.
