Introduction
Time to have a look at some Bordeaux vertical
Flight 1 - Senejac (6 Notes)
The old friend...the off vintages were a bit more off than I remember...
Flight 2 - Belgrave (3 Notes)
Another old friend...pretty good showing...
Flight 3 - Lascombes (4 Notes)
A wine that doesn't perform as well as I want it to most of the time...this lot were showing okay today though

2004 Château Sénéjac
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
From Coravin. leather, brambles, earth, damp forest floor, blackcurrant, cedar, touch of pyrazine. Gets more meaty with time; beef stock. Juicy, fleshy, the savoury meaty notes are joined with black tea to accompany the black fruits and pyrazine notes. Tannins are chamois cloth burr, long, integrated, fruit persists. Very good for a cheaparse Bordeaux in a critically underrated vintage. Yum.

2010 Château Sénéjac

From Coravin. Cedar, slight toast, dialled back black fruit melange; currant, plums, berries, sweet oak spice with a meaty underpin ,a very sight spirituous quality is not off putting. With time more tertiary notes. Juicy, fleshy, black fruit melange, a little salted black liquorice, tannins tug at the tongue affectionately, leathery and meaty underpin, balanced, glorious. In a very sweet spot.

2012 Château Sénéjac

From Coravin. Pretty jubey black hued fruits, a touch of almost friable chalkiness, earthy undergrowth, Autumn copse, little lactic note. Juicy, fleshy, red berry joins the black hued fruits lending a touch of tartness, tannins are a little bitter, coarse flour textured, and persistent, fruit drops s little too quickly, slight white pepper on the finish. Hmm

2013 Château Sénéjac

From Coravin. Quite lean and green with slight unripe red fruit; currant, raspberry, very slight cranberry and a little rhubarb, wet earth, austere nose. and, in this case, the palate is very much a reflection of the nose, slight red fruit vies with quite a green underpin, tannins are also green, grainy, slightly bitter. Takes me back to this years En Primeur. Bah.

2015 Château Sénéjac

From Coravin. Cedar, blackcurrant, sweet spice, alcohol prickle lends a little savoury spiciness as well as a slightly dusty baked earth quality, with time. Little fruit lozenge and lactic underpin. In the mouth it's surprisingly fresh and juicy, fleshy mid palate, the oak spice, lactic notes and fruit need. bit more time to fully integrate for me, slight non intrusive alcohol with and bitterness on the finish, tannins are quite woody, dryings. Perhaps straying to a little dumb phase?

2018 Château Sénéjac

From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of show a little plum, pyrazine, with agitation the plummy fruit grows joined by a cedar and oaky spice, alcohol prickle; almost. New world/ warm climate nose. It's quite tough on the palate, sliding in to that warm anonymity that seems to derive from over-ripe fruit, perhaps time will help. Shame.
