Small glass Both vintage and Morgeot fleshiness with a broad array of orchard fruit aroma and flavors, with a more-than-faint tropical hint. Big and fun but with a precise mineral backbone. Very good for its level, very good now with more to come.

My first time tasting his Corton-Charlemagne, and it was great. wonderfully rich orchard fruit with spice touches, great freshness and elegant textures of an old school styled wine. Very impressive.

I haven't had this wine in over two decades, and last wrote (in 2002) that it needed plenty of time. I guess Bob gave it that time, which has served it well, and maybe it's now mostly showing its age. Still wonderful at an advanced stage, but very enjoyable. I will have to dig out my bottles ASAP.

Popped-and-poured. Mature red fruits with very good weight, well spiced, plus nicely supported with earth, mushroom, and roasted meat notes. very well balanced, very good now.

At the very early stages of its drinking window, this has so much ripe orchard fruit, balanced with at least as much structure, so still taut in the middle, but so reminiscent of the great bottle from 2014 I opened a few days ago.

Magnum. Floral start with plenty of lemon, lemon peel, and lemon curd with a touch of ripe apple. Very bright from middle to finish. Certainly better now vs when tasted in its youth a decade ago. If tasted blind, I'd never have thought this from 2009, but rather a brighter vintage with good richness such as 2008.

I thought possibly slightly corked, certainly stripped of fruit and getting worse through the afternoon as it got more air. The guy who brought it took the remainder home and based on subsequent “testing” (i.e., tasting) that it wasn’t corked, but rather seriously oxidized.

Magnum. I haven't had this wine in nearly 15 years and time has been kind to it. Still plenty of ripe black and red cherry with plenty of muscle, but just as nuanced undertones coming through over the course of several small tastes. So much here, this will last and develop into something even more exciting over the decades to come

This wine was a rare 1996 that was wonderful young, with several excellent bottles enjoyed between 2009-2017, but tonight it was getting old and lacking the brightness and grace of the terroir.

Magnum. Big and ripe with very good weight, but also slightly clumsy and showcasing too much of the vintage ripeness. Still good, but I think this was Bruno's first vintage taking back this previous Clair Dau / Jadot section of Bonnes Mares in MSD.
