    Dark plum fruit with a lot of development and a touch of vanilla. The alcohol is dominating a lot and the wine is very much out of balance and lacks flavor.

    Dark plum and prune fruit but also some aged flavors of leather. Has some licorice, black pepper and is to the dry side of the VP style.

  • 2003 Alves de Sousa Porto Vintage Quinta da Gaivosa 93 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

    Quite evolved but in a lovely way showing red plum fruit but also walnuts. Has a lovely floral touch of violets and white flowers. Lovely but certainly showing a lot more age compared to other wines in this vintage.

    Warm and dark plum fruit with a dry touch and a lot of tannins in the aftertaste.
    Huge acidity but also vanilla and orange peel. Big structure and still very young.

    Dark plum and black currant fruit and coffee. Dense and compact wine but lacks some structure and acidity to balance the fruit.

    Huge structure and wild acidity but also plenty of fruit. The wine feels fairly dry.
    Despite the intensity and structure, it still feels very much in balance. Great wine that will improve for a long time.

    Huge and sweet dark plum fruit with a refined but intense structure and appropriate acidity.
    Has a touch of eucalyptus, spices and elderberry fruit. Great balance and a stunning wine.
