• 2023 Domaine des Pasquiers Côtes du Rhône Villages Sablet Blanc

  France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Sablet

  40% Marsanne 40% Roussanne 20% Clairette, 13.50% alc
  The wine shows med intensity, green peel notes, wax notes, herbal notes like tea and chamomile, showing some depth
  Palate shows med to hihg intensity in palate, green peel bitterness (could be from serving temp though, it was warm-ish), again wax nuances, med body, low acidity, again herbal notes, med finish
  Probably better with food, some yeast notes. I feel a bit concerned about the bitterness but ok.

  After some time in the glass, the herbal tea element goes away

• 2023 Alain Gautheron Chablis

  France, Burgundy, Chablis

  The wine shows freshness, citrus notes, some yeast notes, very fruit forward, extrovert.
  Palate is very fresh, citrus notes, med to high acidity, green apple, pear notes, med body, med to long finish. Fresh and youthful, there is a nice creaminess here

• 2023 Alain Gautheron Saint-Bris

  France, Burgundy, Côtes d'Auxerre, Saint-Bris

  The wine shows tight profile, citrus notes, there is a green profile here, some grassy notes, vegetal notes.
  Palate shows extrovert character, again green notes, med to full body, high acidity, citrus. There is an underlying sweet ripe stone fruit layer, med finish. Geeky interesting

• 2023 Alain Gautheron Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre

  France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

  50% cement, 50% oak and foudres
  The wine shows ripeness, thin oak layer, biscuit notes, ripe fruit. There is a fine elegance here, not shouting, mineral
  Palate shows texture, rich profile, sweet (almost) biscuit notes, elegant, nice fruit depth, med finish
  Forward and playful, just lacking the real depth and concentration of other Montee de Tonnerre

• 2023 Domaine La Manarine Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vin d'Ange Heureux

  France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

  50% Clairette blanc 50% Clairette rose 50%
  8 months demi muid, 14.0% alc, 1st vintage
  The wine shows med yellow colour
  In the nose, the wine shows sweet white floral notes, ripe stone fruit, a touch mineral, fine oak layer, a nice spice/incense note too
  Palate shows richness, thick oak frame, med to full body, warmth, again floral notes, nutty, underlying sweetness, a bit salty, some exotic notes, geeky, med finish
  Its nice and interesing and first time doing this, if they tone down the oak, it could be something fun as a project.
  Steep price for what it is though

• 2019 Le Nardian Blanc

  France, Bordeaux

  Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Muscadelle (15%), 12 months fermenting and ageing in oak, 10 barrels entire production, 14.50% alc
  The wine shows very extrovert profile, rich sweet notes, tropical notes, mango, pineapple notes, very ripe peach
  Palate follows the pattern, very ripe and tropical fruit notes, again mango and pineapple, coconut, full body, a bit warm, some VA notes, med finish
  It is so bloody weird and impressive and utterly geeky, I'm in

• NV Champagne Trudon Champagne Magnificence

  France, Champagne

  50% Pinot Meunier 50% Chardonnay, 35% MLF, 60% vin de reserve, 4 years on lees, 5gr dosage
  The wine shows med to high intensity, citrus notes, very creamy, nutty, dusty, floral notes, some tropical notes, fruit forward
  The wine shows carbonation that sort of goes away fast, ripe stone fruit, med body, a bit elevated acidity, mango notes, peach, fruit forward, med finish
  Vinous, diffefent

  65% Pinot Meunier 35% PInot Noir, 35% MLF, bottling 2017 and disgorgement 02/2025, 6,5gr dosage, 6 years on lees
  The wine shows a very rich profile, very ripe fruit, forward, decadent, some old oak notes, spices and a bit oxidative
  Palate shows high carbonation, bread notes, ripe citrus notes, some butter notes, rich, med to full body, decadent again, med finish

• 2022 Domaine La Manarine Châteauneuf-du-Pape Pied de Baud

  France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

  Pure Grenache in egg cement for 18 months, 14.50% alc
  Very pale colour, fragrant red cherry notes, cranberry notes, sweet notes
  Palate follows the fruit profile, incense, floral notes, med body, nice acidity, smooth tannins, short to med finish. There is a touch of bitterness but altogether and overall playful and enjoyable

• 2022 Domaine des Pasquiers La Singulière

  France, Vin de France

  Mourvedre, 12 months in oak, 14.50% alc
  The wine shows a warm/southern France/mediterranean profile, ripe dark fruit, black cherry notes, some olive and balsamic notes, a touch earthy, decadent, warmth, full on sweet spices
  Palate follows the fruit profile, youhful, chocolate notes, bold but velvety tannins, juicy, rather easy for what it is, long finish
  Tasty, bold and beautiful, a touch warm with red apples after some time in the glass

• 2020 Château Laforge

  France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

  92% merlot 8% cabernet franc, old vines
  The wine shows high intensity, coffee notes, ripe black fruit, chocolate notes, earthy/Brett notes, red cherry/berry notes
  Palate shows med body, red fruit, leaner than expected, acidity, lean tannins, again coffee/chocolate, short to med finish
  After some time, you get minty notes and more red fruit
