  Another bottle of this very enjoyable Chardonnay. Virtually identical to our previous bottle some 3+ months ago. Will continue to hold.

With steak off the grill. Opened the Saddleback Merlot after draining the Rauzan-Gassies.

• 2005 Château Rauzan-Gassies 92 Points

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

  Decanted (with slight sediment) about two and a half hours before dinner, with the second glass even better than the first. Dark fruits on both the nose and medium bodied palate along with some spice and a bit of earth. The acidity was juicy, and the tannins were soft. Well cellared bottles of this wine could hold for another 10 years.

• 2019 Saddleback Cellars Merlot Oakville 89 Points

  USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville

  Slo-oxed for about 15 minutes. Dark ruby in the glass. A solid medium bodied Merlot with black cherry, black olive and a touch of oak. Good acidity and some light tannins that softened with air. Will continue to hold.
