A clear step up from Corbeaux, and pretty much a soil to glass wine, unfurling with scents of iron, smokey ash, black cherry, and soil, then very good depth in the mouth with flavors of black fruits and spices, the wine is fresh and vibrant, quite powerful, ending long and very refined. At Domaine Bachelet, the craftmanship is so high that even lesser vintages over deliver. This fascinating wine is already complex but I bet 5 more years down the road should bring even a higher level of complexity.

Tasted right after opening, aromas of strawberries blast from the glass, then glossily rich, chalky and fresh altogether, ending long...Then served to my group after three hours of air, the wine strangely closed off a bit, aggressive swirling revealing black cherry, soil, and some sauvage, animalistic notes, then serious, deep with lots of reserve, power and elegantly structured on the finish. This needs another 5 to 10 years, but this is already quite good. I preferred it right after opening it.

Consistent with my previous TN, this bottle was even better on the nose offering very complex perfumes of pomegranate, red cherry, brown leather, cardamon, aniseed, then silky mouthfeel with brilliant definition of red fruit and chalk, ending lifted and long in a spray of active limestone. A total beauty.

This bottle was so much more reduced than the one tasted some years ago. I miss here the bright red fruits I have enjoyed last time. This is still good, but I suspect this is probably a bottle from the bottom of the barrel with lots of lees, and more reduction. Mounir and Rotem always use lots of lees, with extended elevages, they bottle by hand, do not rack, so inevitably there is at times reduction, and the last bottles out of the barrel are never the best.

Red and blue fruits scents with a some spices introduce the wine, the mouthfeel is altogether easy going, perfumed but unpolished, with decent depth and a nice, chalky, black cherry inflected long finish. The wine lack perhaps some gloss with the best producers of the Climat, could a better elevage be beneficial ? Probably, but the wood is digested and this is quite good, not very deep but so easy going and very enjoyable and true to the CSJ terroir.

This bottle was so much more reduced than the one tasted some years ago. I miss here the bright red fruits I have enjoyed last time. This is still good, but I suspect this is probably a bottle from the bottom of the barrel with lots of lees, and more reduction. Mounir and Rotem always use lots of lees, with extended elevages, they bottle by hand, do not rack, so inevitably there is at times reduction, and the last bottles out of the barrel are never the best.
