Al Fresco Lunch with Sharon Harris et amis

Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • 2023 Rarecat Blanc de Barbera Extra Brut 92 Points

    USA, California

Pale peach in color. Vibrant small bubbles. Lovely bouquet dried apricot and white blossoms. Broad palate of stone fruits, blanched almonds and a kiss of caramel. Medium plus body. Great mouthfeel and a lingering finish. Excellent with homemade hummus and lentil/walnut/garlic pate. Who would have guessed Barbera as the source grape?!? Can't wait to try the Champagne method.

  • 2023 Rarecat Rosé Jennifer 91 Points

USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena

Pale salmon hue. Pronounced nose of savoury red fruit. Just past bone dry. Provencal but ultimately its own expression of place. Dried sour cherries and orange peel on the palate. Medium bodied and bright acidity in check. Paired with baked feta and olives and figs but this is a wine for finding an outdoor perch with dappled sunlight and worthy company. well made.

  • 2023 Château du Seuil Sauvignon Blanc Graves Blanc Rarecat 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves

Possibly one of the best Bordeaux blancs I've ever experienced. Medium yellow hue. Pronounced savoury rich nose of baked stone fruits, toasted almonds and delicate white flowers. Seamless palate of ripe peach, apricots, vanilla shortbread, almond butter and a lovely light oily texture (from the Semillon?). The balance is well done - acidity just stays above the weight of the fruit and alcohol. Medium plus finish. Would be perfect with seared scallops or sauteed prawns in a lime garlic butter.

  • 2023 Rarecat Pinot Noir 93 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

Dark ruby. Slighty chilled for al fresco dining. Inviting aromatics of ripe bing cherry and red plum. Rich palate of cherry, plum, and butter cookie. Seamless body with a medium plus finish. There's oak treatment here but its well-managed. One hour later and this was next-level delicious.
