Purchased at the Auction and in my cellar since. Brought to L'Artusi in NYC, great corkage friendly spot with fabulous food and knowledgeable wine service. Opened and decanted 2 hours+ and rebottled to take to the restaurant. First wine of the evening. last notes were from 2017
Translucent purple tinged ruby color, no real signs of age. Nose of red fruits, mineral and earth notes. Plate red fruits, strawberry, rhubarb, earth, smoke(?). Lithe on the palate with good persistence on the mid palate. Continued to evolve in the glass, showing deeper red fruits, caramel notes as it was open longer. Medium body and finish.
In a great spot at this point, well stored bottles could go a while but I am inclined to find venues to drink a few more soon...has aged nicely, less exuberant than it was in its youth,,,great wine from a vintner I respect. Glad I have a good numbr of bottles left. WOTN for one of the guests
Brought to L'Artusi in NYC, great corkage friendly spot with fabulous food and knowledgeable wine service. Purchased at auction circe 2017, Second wine of the evening. Decanted and rebottled 2.5 hours prior to drinking, drank over an hour. Had this with the pasta courses
Medium garnet color, dark core, some browning at the edge. Nose showing dark cherry, sweet/baking spices, rose petal. Smooth palate showing sweetened red fruits, dark cherry, balsamic tar and rose petal...smooth texture, mild acidity, tannins softened. Medium/full body, long finish.
Classic Barolo profile throughout. Decant here is a must, would have allowed even more time if I had planned further ahead. Should have a way to go and may even improve, but certainly drinking well at this point. Killed with the pasta...:)
Brought to L'Artusi in NYC, great corkage friendly spot with fabulous food and knowledgeable wine service. Bottle purchased at the PNV auction, in my cellar from delivery. Only the second bottle tasted. Opened, decanted and rebottled 3 hours prior to going to the restaurant. Prior tasting 2021. Last wine of the evening.
Dark garnet color. On the nose was dark berries, earth note. Smooth plate showing black cherry, cassis, savory notes along with classic Rutherford dust. Texture was notable, tannins are smoothed. Full body, long finish.
Still going strong, nicely aged, classic CA cabernet. Big hit with the crowd.
