Weekend in the Mâconnais with family.
We had a very warm welcome at the domain and could taste the wines outside on the warm September day and with a very interesting visit of the cellar. The wines are the result of natural farming and low intervention in the cellar with no or little doses of sulfite.
The white wines were showing a cool climate profile, personality and high quality, they have a similarity with the wines I know from Rotalier/Jura. The wines made from Gamay were not my thing but the more elegant Pinot Noirs I liked a lot. All in all very serious wines without the freaky factor and the funky notes of many trendy natural wines.
All bottles were freshly opened, a bit more air could have helped for one or the other, so the rating might be a bit conservative.
Wines we had in the restaurant during our stay in the hotel.
2022 Domaine Des Vignes du Maynes (Julien Guillot) Clos des Vignes du Maynes Brut Nature Ste Genevieve 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Crémant de Bourgogne
(9/20/2025)
Chardonnay, Gamay and Pinot Noir, 12.5% vol
On the nose raspberry, strawberry, apple and yeasty notes. On the palate fresh with a bit of tartness, good length. Already very good but might profit from one or two additional years in the cellar, 90+.

2022 Domaine Des Vignes du Maynes (Julien Guillot) Mâcon-Villages 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Mâcon-Villages
(9/20/2025)
Macon Village 2022. Vines of an age between 25 and 67 years, 30 months on the lees (thereof 12 months in barrique) without stirring, 12.5% vol.
On the nose white stone fruit and apple, on the palate creamy, chalky and a prominent sesame note, long finish. A quite unique wine that reflects the long ageing period on the lees. Drink now or within the next 6 years.

2019 Domaine Des Vignes du Maynes (Julien Guillot) Mâcon-Villages 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Mâcon-Villages
(9/20/2025)
20 months on the lees, 12.5% vol.
Shows a bit of effervescence that disappears quite fast. Mineral and slightly citric (lime), fresh and rather light, slightly creamy and a good length, quite crowed pleasing. To be enjoyed within the next couple of years, 90+.
This wine made an unintentional second fermentation in the bottle, but it seems as it did not harm but helped to keep it very fresh.

2022 Domaine Des Vignes du Maynes (Julien Guillot) Bourgogne Blanc Cuvée Léandre L’Homme Lion 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc
(9/20/2025)
Chardonnay from Côte Chalonnaise, Lieu-dit "En Rimont", aged 30 months on the lees in enamelled casks, 13% vol.
On the nose citric, a hint of white stone fruit and only a tiny tad of yeasty notes, on the palate rather light and very clean but also sustainable and with energy. Great wine that needs a couple of years to show its best (92-93+), happy to have some bottles to see how it evolves.

2017 Domaine Des Vignes du Maynes (Julien Guillot) Chénas Clos des Vignes du Maynes Ultimatum Climat
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Chénas
(9/20/2025)
Semi-carbonic maceration. Mainly strawberries and earthy notes, still lot of energy, medium bodied, finish with still some edges and rather sharp. Not bad, but also not really my cup of tea.

2023 Domaine Des Vignes du Maynes (Julien Guillot) Bourgogne Clos des Vignes du Maynes Cuvée Auguste 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Bourgogne
(9/20/2025)
70 years old vines of a rare Pinot Noir clone (Pinot Fin), semi-carbonic maceration, aged 10 months in barrique, vinification without any sulfite, 12.5% vol.
On the nose mainly red berries, on the palate clean and good structured, medium bodied, slightly drying on the finish. Too young for now but I think this could get great and requires several years to show its beauty, happy to have a few bottles to see how it evolves (91-93+).
