    Cristal v Dom Perignon Flight! – Okay this wine is getting better. As mentioned, I kept poo poo’ing this wine but it is starting to grow on me. 2 more bottles in the cellar. I will try as hard as I can to wait for 2030.

    Cristal v Dom Perignon Flight! Another good showing from Cristal. Not my favorite vintage. Cristal though, is a style that I very much like and understand why this house is just good year in, year out.

    Cristal v Dom Perignon Flight! – 2nd time with 13 and this was showing much better after a couple years. Not surprising though because it feels like I really like Dom with age on them and as each year that passes, it gets better for my palate. I can’t wait to drink the 08 and 98 in my cellar.

    Cristal v Dom Perignon Flight! Well what can I say, 13 Cristal for the win! This was not surprising and just bested all the other bubbles on the table. If one were to keep some Cristal in the cellar, it would be the 13 and the 08.

    Probably WOTN in general for this day

  • 2003 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage 97 Points

    As I was pouring this wine into my glass, I was a bit hesitant because the experiences I have had so far with Chave have left me with tons of funk (brett?) that I am quite sensitive to. I was almost beginning to think this is Chave’s style. I go back to thinking about the “Somm” series where some very well known winemakers often called Chave their “IT” wine. I just couldn’t quite understand. This bottle has given me some hope again. This was beautiful! Tons of complexity, hints of fruit, earth, maybe just a tinge of funk that I was perfectly fine with. Loved it.

  • 2015 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 96 Points

    First La La. It is true, these Guigals just need lots of age on them. I was concerned that I was going to get a ton of terroir and bacon fat but there was tons of fruit, probably due to its youth. One more bottle in hand and I’ll take other’s advice and wait another 10-15 years to try again.

    Super interesting nose. Very interesting, complex and fun to drink. This is what I feel like a bottle like this should taste like as it develops over time.

  • 2020 Kinsman Eades Syrah Aberro White Hawk Vineyard 91 Points

    USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County

    Got a bit lost amongst the group. Next to the Turque and Chave, it almost felt like I was drinking nothing. Just felt muted. Round 2 a few hours later, some fruit showed up and not all was lost on this bottle.

    My review was a different of this wine. On my palate I got a bit of bitterness and felt like overall it was just a bit over the hill for me. That being said, it felt like a well kept bottle that provided some interesting notes of butterscotch and dried tea leaves.

    This bottle is one of those wines that in the right crowd with the right outside temperature, would just be a great refreshment. On its own though, it came off as a bit overdone.

  • 2020 Sine Qua Non Distenta White II 92 Points

    Against the 20 Fathem, I liked this much more but still followed a similar path for me in terms of interest. On its own, it also felt a bit overdone and it felt like it was trying to appeal to a side of me that if I had this I would chill the hell out of it, I would be bringing to a pool party on a hot day and I would just enjoy.

    no new notes other than this is a great vintage and not just because i have a case of it or that it is my 2nd born birthyear wine.

    I think this is destined to be a great one.
