Good food and great wines in a beautiful setting. The structured Touriga Franca 2016 is an amazing wine, it may be the best single varietal Touriga Franca I have come across to date, and it will be long-lived. And of the about 150 wines I tasted on my trip to the Douro region, among the table wines the Vinha da Ponte 2018 was one of my favourites (together with the Quinta do Vale Meão 2022 and Quinta do Vallado's Vinha da Coroa 2020).
2024 Quinta do Crasto Douro Superior Branco 90 Points
Portugal, Douro
From double magnum. A blend of Viosinho and Verdelho. 12.5% ABV. Bright light lemon colour. Citrus, lime, green apple, lime peel, shy floral notes, light butter, and notable minerality, with fresh, medium-level acidity, and very good length. Medium- to light-bodied, with a lightly buttery texture, and very discrete oak. Well balanced. Very good!

2016 Quinta do Crasto Tinta Roriz Douro 91 Points
Portugal, Douro
100% Tinta Roriz. 18 months in new French oak. 14.5% ABV. Dark ruby colour. Ripe red and dark fruit, dark cherry, dark flowers, chocolate, espresso, spices, mint, smoke, and mineral tones, with medium-level acidity, lightly sandpapery tannin, and very good length. Ripe, full, concentrated, and broad, but with sufficient structure to age well.

2016 Quinta do Crasto Touriga Franca Douro 93 Points

100% Touriga Franca. 18 months in new French oak. 13.5% ABV. Much more red fruit-driven than the darker Tinta Roiz. Red berries, raspberry, strawberry, red cherry, shredded dark chocolate, hints of leather and tobacco, spices, vanilla, and underlying minerality, with fresh, medium-level acidity, and very good length. Medium-bodied, very structured, with good freshness, a creamy texture, and great persistence. An outstanding wine! Will be long-lived.

2018 Quinta do Crasto Douro Vinha da Ponte 94 Points
Portugal, Douro
A field blend from vines that are more than 100 years old. Only 2ha, a small production of about 3.000 bottles. 20 months in new French oak. 14.5% ABV. Dark ruby colour. Floral notes, red and dark fruit, dark chocolate, some coffee, hints of leather and tobacco, spices, vanilla, and intense minerality, with fresh, medium-level acidity, and superb length. Firm, chocolaty, and lightly minty finish and aftertaste. The wine is firm, balanced, mineral, elegant, and very, very long. Truly outstanding! But with a hefty price tag.

2018 Quinta do Crasto Porto Vintage
Portugal, Douro, Porto
20% ABV. Opaque ruby. Ripe black and red fruit, spices, black tea, and some mint, with great concentration, and superb length. Less brutal and more accessible than the young 2020 Quinta do Vallado VP, but still in its infancy. Best enjoyed with rich, creamy cheeses at this point. Hold, and start drinking in 15 years.
